seems like no one makes a t/c rod with a dust boot. even RUCAS seem to be hard to find with them, but i havent found a t/c rod yet.

any advice?

Kazama and cusco makes them with the boot cover, same with the RUCA

tein also makes the t/c rods with a rubber bearing seal thing

Or buy one without it and add your own dust boot. The ones with dustboots are overpriced anyways.

Tein t/c rods do not have a "rubber bearing seal thing."

you can get dust boots from most racing parts supply houses but if you buy nice quality stuff that use good heim joints you really dont need the dust boots anyways

Tanabe also has dust boots on their T/C rods. I've been trying to decide on either Tanabe/Cusco/Kazama RUCAs, or some SPL or Battleversion w/out boots.

Woah, nice! SPL has good prices and service too. I'll try out their tension rod.

Dousan, you have their ruca too?

i did on my s13. yep
did the job
never ever had an issue
shit was top notch
and kuah is cool
i had all splparts. i am sponsored by them so i wont deny that
but my friends who arent sponsored, buy them and no complaints
excellent support and super cool.
most of my stuff i bought from them
so did my friend w/ a z32tt. no complaints.

i dont know if its still NAMS stuff
if it is, it rules
if it isnt, its damn close if not the same
NAMS products are excellent, top quality

how good? i had SPL rucas (pro model?--the chrome ones) for mm i'd say 2 years plus
car was daily driven (my only car), and tracked at least 2 times a month (drifting events) and did a good share of moutain runs. never had a problem.

I've had my tension rods for over a year with 5 1200 mile trips (one way). I live in KS so I do drive on dirt roads sometimes and it's my daily driver (I currently do deliveries). The ball joints are good and I haven't had any issue. They are the SPL ones like Dousan has. Kuah is a really cool guy. Too bad I can't get sponsored.

hmmm maybe i wont worry about it so much, just figured that boots are only going to help and most suspension pieces seem to be close in price between manufacturers. then i realized that adding boots is pretty damn cheap. thanks for the good information

don't spl ruca's come with dust boots? as in this pic from splparts.com:

For the S14 they sell the Cusco RUCAs. That's why they have them.

Very good to hear Dousan!

I think I will go with SPL for RUCAs also. Tnx for all the info, helped me make my decisions.

I've never seen a dustboot on the heim joints in an off-road race vehicle... I guess they just use good heims?

That and they can afford new ones/they replace them anyways.

all my friends that beat the shit out of their trucks in the desert don't have boots over their heim joints. Good quality heims don't have any trouble with sand/silt etc. so I think they can handle whatever we throw at them.

coolios.

like i was saying above, looks like you dont need them....but again i say that they cant be hurting anything.

i wont worry about it when i get rods, i'll just get whatever i want and then add boots :) i mean 2.50 per boot is pretty damn cheap anywayz.

thanks again for the good infoz everyone
