Which is better for high hp applications-400+. Thanx.

BOTH!

I'm going to be running the Splitfire package with a B&M new volt ignition amplifier.

Is this for an sr or ka? There's plenty of high hp Sr20det powered cars running well over 400hp with stock coilpacks.

you also might want to look into the xs engineering power pack, which i think (don't quote me) is cheaper than the hks. i think they have the same function.

Well here's the deal. It is an SR. When I began running my SC61 setup everything ran fine. Daily was 15psi and racing was between 21-22psi. Had no probablems for about 4 monthes. Then all of a sudden I started getting miss fire's at 21 psi at high rpm in third and fourth gear. Thinking it was maybe an ignition problem, I changed plugs and gapped them to 25. The problem went away for another month or two and came back. So I was assuming that the ignition is not powerful enough and failing. I checked my timing and this seemed odd. I have a JWT tune, but while checking with a timing gun, the mark was reading a little to the right of the 20degree mark. I was expecting it to read at 15. I doubt timing is an issue though as the car ran fine for over 4 monthes with hard driving. So I'm leaning towards the ignition. I've tested the coils and each read one ohm so I know they're not damaged, I just figure it's not pushing enough to keep up. Any ideas?

I would lean more towards bad plugs than bad ignition

Did you check the timing with the TPS disconnected and the car fully warmed up with idle around 800rpms??

I let the car warm up, turned off, unplugged tps, turned back on, set idle to 750-800, and this is the reading I got.

I realize this also. But what would cause plugs to keep going bad. I first had denso iridium 7's in for about a year, then changed my setup and they failed 4 monthes after. I then went with some regular ngk's and they last but 1 or two monthes. I now have some ngk iridiums on the way in 7's and 8's.
