So I f'ed up my car real good on the touge a few weeks ago and the area under my pass side door is torn open/pushed in like a soda can. I need side skirts real bad to hide this shit and have been looking for oem ones for a while now with no luck at all. Then I remembered that pdm sells some that look almost exactly like the oem ones and they cost just as much lol.

Does anyone know if these are exact copys and if the quality is any good?

Thanks :wiggle:

So how are they different? Are they taller or something? Looking at pix of both its hard to tell any difference and I have only seen oem sides in person.

correct me if i'm wrong but i think the jdm ones buldge out a little more at the ends than the pdm ones. but i like the pdm ones because they're more subtle. i'm planning to get those and the pdm rear valence to compliment it. hehe.

anyone have any reviews or opinions on fitment and durability on PDM kits?

no not the same
dont look the same
arent eh same quality
before you reply and be wrong, ive owned both

pdm=fiberglass (frp)
jdm=polyeurathane (spelling sucks)

oem jdm is rough and tough

differences
how it looks

if you think it looks the same, you probably think most jdm aero looks the same (origin/vertex or uras/bn)

i prefer the look of the jdm one
the PDM one has that like indentation/venty look on the rear part which i hate. on that black car you cant see, but the line that runs acrsoos loops up a bit as if a vent should be there
the oem jdm one doesnt

its preference

I see the indentation your talking about :)

I would much rather have a pair of JDM sides but im starting to get tired of seeing my car all f'ed up. Are they both about the same hight or is the pdm one lower (As in closer to the ground)? Thanks

i think about same
i havent had them on a car for ..wow so long
i wanna say jdm is SLIGHTLY lower if any
but i havent them on testing (i owned both at same time and sold both a few weeks later to friends) never actually used on car (driving, just testing)

i say the JDM looks better. far bettre, how they flare and also bolting in, sits and bolt well and stays strong. iirc, the front and rear of oem jdm ones are lower, the PDM is like flattbottomed

I got a set of Canadian oem sideskirts, ho did you guys mount them? It lookes like from when I took them off there were 2 screws in the front fender, and the rest was tape. is that how everyone else attached thiers, or is there a better way?

I had a pair of the PDM side skirts and I took them to a professional bodyman/friend of a friend....and we test fitted them and the finish was okay...but the fitment was crap. They were fairly straight....but had a "warped twist" in one of them (rear square part) and I was told they were probably pulled out of the fiberglass mold incorrectly and they got a twist in them. Anyhow, he would have had to charge me alot to rework (cut the part that was twisting and re mold the corner) them and get them to fit right. I said forget it and let them go cheap locally. After that I've decided it's OEM or nothing for me as far as sideskirts are concerned. I'd rather spend $550 for OEM Type X skirts from Phase2 than spend $240 + international shipping + $100's in body work to get the PDM's to fit correctly.

Apparently the S13 Silvia OEM sides and 180SX Chuuki sides are different. The S13 Silvia ones dont have as much of a downward angle at the edges as the 180SX chuuki ones do. The S13 Silvia ones are more "square" at the edges.

The CDM ones, as other people mentioned, are not the same as either of the JDM sides at all.

Chris, go with OEM dude, cus I know thats what you want. :)

Did you try contacting JARCO or maybe that Karim guy in SoCal? lol :P

Damn, thanks for pointing out that loopy vent shiet.. I was eyeing the PDM sideskirts til you said that. It's hard to notice on that black S13.. but guess I can cross that one off the list.

Wow, brand new too. Very nice if you want to spend the money. It's hard to find these complete with all the hardware you need to install them.

I think the 180SX chuki and the Silvia 91-93 are the same sides. They come painted black on the bottom part that angles down at the edges so it looks more square but most people who buy them and put them on paint the whole thing one color so it looks different.

Yes, that is an incredible price for brand new chuki skirts. I paid $280 or so from RB and they were in incredible condition, but used none-the-less.

I'm not as fluent in all of the subtle differences of the kits as Aaron or Lindsay but I'm sure they'd agree that the chuki 180SX and Silvia skirts are in fact different. As some of you have pointed out, the 180SX skirts have the drop-down points on either end that most people just paint over. From the factory, those points were left black (as they are on mine). The Silvia skirts don't have these points but I believe they are also a bit less wide, perhaps to compliment the factory aero bumper. I have seen what I believe are OEM Silvia skirts next to my OEM chuki 180SX skirts and they are in fact different in the width of the skirt.

PDM and Canadian side-skirts are identical look, but different quality. I have CDN skirts and they are made out of urethane.

Check pics in my Cardoman profile or my sig..

Hmm.. I have yet to see the OEM Silvia ones then. All the ones I've seen have the ends coming down as in the chuki 180SX.

Bomex wins when compared to PDM and EDM but still looking for better pics of the JDM ones. A guy out in riverside found some sides off a junkyard car, look something like old skool xenon sides.

Good LOAD those BOMEX skirts look HOT

HOT HOT HOT

Let's try to get a full set of "side" pics of the side skirts... we got one of the BOMEX, and I'll try to take a pic of my car soon, so that covers the chuuki 180SX skirts.

Now we need:
- Side shot of the 180sx Kouki sides
- Side shot of the 180sx/240sx hatchback CDM sides (or the PDM ones, I guess, since its the same)
- Side shot of the S13 Silvia sides

And when I say "side" shot, I mean like this one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/Otsego240/yn202.jpg

Not some GayDM Super Ricer OMG make-the-angle-hella-crooked-and-shit angle.

This way, we can archive this thread and peopel can use it as reference for how the sides differ.

Plus, it'll just be fun. :D

Someone get Maeda to take a picture of his car from the side, he got kouki sides on it and its a twotone, too. :D

EH? Those sides arn't mine. They belong to one dousan, and they're only the same color as the car in the magical land of the internet+photoshop.

ill put up a pic one-the-lessss if only for the pure satisfaction to blast somebody with this topic link. :mrmeph:

Bomex sides are cheap (under $200) and easy to find but they are fiberglass which is a big no no. I also like the look of the whole bomex kit for coupes looks but that kit would be distroyed after a few nights on the touge.

I did find a pair of sil sides that are damaged on ebay and im waiting to see how expensive they get. If it stays a reasonable price I will pick them up and have them repaired/installed when my car is finally painted.
