well I have a buddy who just bought a sohc. I'm kinda his mechanical adviser so...
Anyways other than tune up and advanced timing what cheap/free stuff is there for SOHC. I know k+n and stuff like that but are there any quirks on those motors that are good for a little extra throttle response or a tad bit free hp or anything? I know I can't expect much but to me right now that car is a dog.

go to the faq's, and search for "free/cheap mods" theres a thread dedicated to this type of stuff..

I already knew everything on there, but that thread, obviously, hasn't been touched in 2 years. Is there anything that might not have been touched upon in that thread?

Hmmm...You are going to have to spend money unless all you want is 10hp. Go with no A/C, power steering, electric fan, custom cold air intake...

Run no exhaust, no headers either. Dont run a clutch fan either, just dont get caught in traffic and you will be fine

so basically he can do the same stuff as I did for the cheap stuff on my old ka24de? cool, I don't really know his motor like I knew the dohc so I didn't know if there were cheap cam swaps or anything like that. thanks for the help.
and I wasn't really looking to help him out to much with free mods, mainly just really cheap/free stuff to help with throttle response and stuff like that.
wootwoot: I heard not running a valve cover is good too ;-) what's your opinions??
