I put my N1 Dual exhaust on the other day and now I noticed that not only are the inside of the tips black but there is also black (soot) on the bumper above the tips. Kinda reminds me of a deisel car.

So I'm told this means I'm running rich so where do I adjust this? and how do I know when it's adjusted right?

Thanks guys

Get a SAFC

You can't manually adjust your air/fuel ratio.

So is this normal? If not, what would cause it?

I have personally never heard of it.

You should keep in mind that new exhaust come internally coated with a certain kind of material that burns with hot temperature and causes a burning odor and smoke to appear. That could also be it. My old GReddy SP was greasy inside when I just got it (stainless steel) and it gave out smoke as it burnt, but it never left any residue on my bumper...

And I really don't know what is it that they coat them with and what its purpose is.

just a thought, that same residue appeared on my car when I was burning oil. This could just be a bad coincidence... You didn't do anything stupid with your O2 sensor lately did you?

I haven't touched the o2 sensors but I did replace spark plugs, fuel filter and pcv valve. The exhaust is only a week old and I did know about the burning residue because I had the same thing with my Greddy SP on my Z32.

Yeah, mine smelled like ass for the first day or two. Then again, it was probably mixing with the smell of my burned out clutch

Anyway, If you're running rich, I'd check O2 sensors. Other than that, you could always run a spark plug to the tailpipe and shoot some flames out of their. Fast and furious baby, hahahaha.

Oh, one thing I forgot... does your car backfire? That's one way you might be able to tell whether it's running rich or just the coating on the inside of the exhaust burning off.
