View Full Version : USDM Speedo in JDM Cluster???

I just had a SR20DET swapped into my 90 S13. The JDM cluster that came with the clip seems to have a broken speedometer. Most of the time, the needle stays at 0 KPH. But when it does move it bounces around like crazy. I took it to a shop to see if the wiring was incorrect. We even tried a direct connection (bypassing the harness) and it still does the same thing. BTW all the other gauges seem to work fine.

So I'm thinking of replacing just the speedometer with a USDM one and keep the rest of the cluster.

Q: Will the USDM speedometer from a 89-91 S13 work? Will I have to change anything else (like the speed sensor, etc)?

Thanks.

And yes, I did search but couldn't find anything that answered my questions.

Yes, I am pretty sure swapping just the speedo into the the JDM cluster will work. I am positive that the JDM Tach will work in your USDM cluster if you just want to swap that out. The tach on your 89-90 USDM cluster will not work with the SR.
