Well, I took my 240 to the track tonight and drove it for the first time ever. Actually, it was my first time ever on a 1/4 mile track. I got in three runs but wasn't too impressed by any of them. I thought our cars ran faster...

Anyway, my first run was my best. It was 16.3 @ 85.022mph with a 1.306rt ! Then I ran a 16.638 @ 83.71 with a .937rt (my friend was in the car) and finally a 16.675 @ 84.4 with a 1.057rt.

I have 60k on the odo with an Injen intake. I had a lot of problems hooking up off the line. I guess this straight line stuff is harder than it looks. Do you guys have any tips on improving my et? There was a 95/96 s14 there with AFC and N1 Dual that ran a 16.1 but I think I can better it if I hook up.

What have you guys found?

[end rant]

On another note, I met drifting240racer and his g/f. We had a lot of fun. After the track we hit Jack in the box and had some food. Our girlfriends got free drinks and fries so that was cool. At any rate, I just wanted to post about our fun (kinda dissapointed in my times though) night at the track.

Were you sleeping at the tree? How the hell do you get a 1.3 second r/t? I have never gotten higher than a .8, and that was once. (This was my Corvette I took to the track.)
LOL!

I find best launches in our cars are sitting around 3k, then stomp it, I leave my foot at the pressure point, I get next to no wheel spin, just a squeal. I won't pretend to be a pro, not by a long shot, but I do practice take offs a lot... so when I get to the track I won't look bad. It's all about finding where your car sticks. Plus you aren't supposed to be able to react faster than the light so most ppl stomp when the final yellow goes out because by the time you actually get the power down it is already green.

This is second hand knowledge but I hope it helps!

wow, that is a seriously good time ninja man. From what I've seen 16.1-16.3 is pretty normal for a fairly stock 240. I've seen guys with IHE and cams only run about 15.7

Take of is important, but how you shift is important too. I've never been to the strip before so I'm not going to interject b/c I don't know how good my speed is. I know I can beat/keep up with a Stock RSX-TypeS with my Stock 92 240 through 3rd gear, but no real times yet.

Wow your are kidding right, that is just sad? The worst I have ever run in my car was a 16.1 on the same day. The claimed E/T from the factory was like a 15.7 so I figured I was about normal.

The other two s cars there ran a:

95 S14 with AFC/N1Dual hit 16.1
and an SOHC (89?) s13 was doing 16.5 and he appeared stock.

I would really like to hit 15's and I know it's possible stock, I just gotta figure out how to drive. Unfortunately I can't get to the track again until summer cuz I have class on Wednesday

reaction time.

From the time the light turns green to the time your cars moving from the line.

Thats really high...1.3! ouch!
On Nitto Tire Racing...i always get like, .6 hehehee...lol

Anyways, thats kinda slow dude, no offence, 16 seconds? i thought a 240 would be faster.
You could get some new tires (Hooisers are sticky like bastard)
And do some more mods...to improve your R/T...
Uhhhhh, all i can say is practice practice practice...Eventually your r/t will go down as you get more used to track.

WORK ON YOUR R/T!!! might I also suggest a short shifter? I had one in my prelude and in all actuality I think it helped a lot.

Yeah, I just gotta get out there more. Part of my problem is I had no idea about the process of staging, taking off or anything so I was waiting for green to get going. If I shaved my r/t I would definitely be in the 15's.

I'll be out over the summer so maybe I will improve more then. If I make some fast cash I will probably end up going KA-T and I'll whoop some ass out there (with another driver in my car) lol.
