View Full Version : Saw a Mitsubishi Galant GTZ in traffic

Is this car for real...or was it rebadged or something.  It was black on black, with gunmetal wheels that looked stock.  If its a limited edition, what are the performance numbers versus the base stock?  Is this a trim package, or are there performance differences also?  This car was BADASS.

Galant Gtz....the newer ones have all-wheel drive w/ the 3.0l six in it. Unlike the lesser models that are FWD and come in either a four or six cyl. The older Galant were vr-4's had AWD w/ the turboed eclipse motor 2.0l.

yeah it's for real, it's been around for like 4 years. and no it's not badass, it's just got a big honkin wing on it. there is some performance difference, but i don't think it's anything to write home about.

if i remember correctly, GTZ doesnt mean they are AWD..jst means they have a sport suspinion and sport crap...

You must be confusing it with something else. Nothing spectacular, but it is a nice car. Oh yeah, definitely not awd. just has fwd v6.

Sorry guys I recall reading a Car and Driver mag. about three years ago and low and behold the review on the Mitsu Gtz...awd, v6, w/ suspension upgrades, and mild body change.

FYI, there hasn't been an awd galant on our shores from Mitsu since the gvr4 went out of importation in 1992.  Now in Japan, that's a different story....(or course...)

Galants are somewhat sexy dude...
A few years back i went on a cruise in mexico...and when it ended, we spent a few weeks in SD, and SF ect...
I saw one in SD...looked mildly stock, few differences on it...but it was nice.

when i was lookin at my sx i sat in a galant vr-4 that had been styled by ralliart. I`ve scoured the net for a pic but cannot find many good pics of em but it was drop dead gorgeous and very muscular.
2.5 litre V6 twin turbo beasties.
