Just like the title says, how many lbs of boost should i be hitting with boltons on an s13 redtop without a boost controller. I have an intake, downpipe, test pipe, and catback exhaust. Right now i'm only hitting 7lbs and it'll sometimes slowly creep to 10lbs. I expected with the all the boltons that i would be hitting around 10lbs like with my mr2. Wouldn't the air flow mods bump the boost up a bit or is that only with mr2's? Does your boost stay at the stock 7lbs even after you put on the bolt on mods?

well......you have to control the boost yourself ya know. It doesnt change as things are bolted on. *sigh*

For Turbocharged cars a wastegate controls the boost levels. You can raise the boost by installing a boost controller.

check on the dyno what the boost is runing at performance wise/ injectors to run rich at high boost levels,to much boost to laggy down bottom ,stick to a fair high mid range out put level engine wise to be safe, more boost does not mean more power/ comes down to your tuner .... it can cost you a new engine, give specs?

the stock wastegate is set at 7psi right? I hit 7psi all the time , and sometimes 9psi . If you want look into a boost controller

i understand that i have to control the boost some how but usually the power that you gain when you install exhaust components is because it raises your boost with the greater air flow. On my mr2 turbo, after i installed intake/exhaust/downpipe i would consistently be able to hit around 11-12lbs of boost without a boost controller. This was the same for all mr2's. I'm not sure if thats because the internal wastegate on the stock ct26 for mr2's suck or if thats the way it works for all cars. Apparently thats not how it works for all cars though cause judging by the response in this post, i'm only suppose to be hitting 7lbs with the bolt-ons i have. =] Well, i guess i dont have to be worried that something is wrong or that i have a boost leak. Thanks!

with intake, exhaust, downpipe, no cat, and front mount i was hitting about 9lbs

i was consistently boosting about 9lb with intake, 80mm exhaust, 80mm downpipe, smic, and gutted stock cat.

this was on a shitty greddy mechanical boost gauge, though; i'm not sure if it was accurate or not. i'm now running a stock replacement cat and i hit slightly above 7 consistently on a defi-link gauge.

okay, boost creep is BAD Mmmm kay? ;)

I'm confused about u guys who's boost creeps... mine is, and always has been, a rock solid 7psi at full boost.

I have:
- 80mm GReddy DD exhaust
- Apex power intake
- GReddy V-SPL FMIC
- Blitz SS 3" downpipe

Same here. Again, its the wastegate that controls boost, stock spring 7psi.

well, this is interesting. I guess the stock wastegate on a lot of peoples cars have problems with boost creep. I know for mr2's we all had it. So i guess i'm boosting perfectly fine at 7lbs with my mods. Thanks for all your guy's help!

Keep your boost below 9-10 lbs if you don't have a fmic in my opinion. Max 14 once you have a fmic.

i have a 3''downpipe , 3" hight flow cat, 3" duel exhaut, FMIC,and intake . i am getting 10 to 11 psi and it spikes to 13 in 3rd gear.
