I might be the only one but I love the lok of the old Zs (like the one in the pic below). I was wondering if swappping an RB20 or RB25 would be a good idea. I would like to this later on in my life after I have gotten far in my S13 project. I think it would be a neat idea. And since it won't be a while I am sure there would have been plenty of RB swaps (unlike the few at this time).
I was just looking for some input on it.

Old Z's are awesome...I've always loved them.
If a V8 can be shoe-horned in there, I don't see why a I-6 won't work. Now how much custom fabrication would be involved I couldn't tell you, but it sounds like a cool project.

Those have the L28 engine right? You can do a carb/ turbo upgrade. If you're going for a RB swap you might as well get a RB26 then that way you'll have the power of a GTR. There was a guy stationed overseas with an orange Z with a RB26 and I know he brought it back or is going to because his Z actually came from the states and that thing was beautiful

you can use the tranny off of a rb25de engine.the one I saw, the guy had the tranny out of a R33 skyline.
my buddy bought a z for $70, then sold it for $200, canadian...
they can be found very very cheap...
on a side note, there is a Z swap meet in a few weeks around here. i went last year, they had a lot of nice stuff for the z car... but nothing for the 240sx

hey that is one clean 240z and those came with L24's only the 280's came with L28's though its pretty common to see 240z sporting L28's it is one of the most common engine upgrades for the car.
AS far as putting in a RB I was thinking of doing that setup as a project . I use to own several 240z's a RB would be dope in a Z car. I say pursue it.

A kid at my high school is almost done with the 240Z/Chevy 350 swap and ONEBADM5 saw it today and said that it will haul ass and the handling will still be great thanks to a set of ground control coilovers and the fact that the L24 doesn't weigh much less than the 350.

An S20 would be the ultimate swap for a 240z. Of course if I had an S20 I would rather have the KPGC10 that came around it originally, than an HLS30. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

thanks Dave..
Why would an S20 necessarily be badass? Personally, concerning old-skool engines, give me an LY28 any damn day..
I love the KPGC10 Skylines.. I might bring one back from japan one day if i can find one...

ha ha - you can tell which is the new car and which is the motor swap by the existance of all those damn hardlines that Nissan loves to run along the firewall.
