$10K
Hmmm
Rebuild the KA....with all the tweaks (port&polish, balance, etc). Then turbo it. Then I'd get a nice body kit for it. Lastly, add rims and coilovers.
OR
Just buy a $2k project car, and have unstable hybrids install an RB25 into it..and keep it as your toy for the weekend. Keep it stock looking, but add LSD..and Apexi duals...and let the 6 cylinders roar!

Hmmm....$40000--down payment on a R34 from MotoRex <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
$10000--definitely heavily modifying the 240SX--making it the baddest KA-T that's still street legal. Duy had only spend $9000 in engine mods for his 10 sec KA-T (too bad he sold his car).
Skiman112
03-28-2002, 09:34 PM
i would buy a METRO!!!!!
j/k
if i had 10k to spend......
ring ring
"hello, unstable hybrids?"......
i'd do the dew and get an SR then throw it in my bisnatch. then work the internals, .
id basically make my car look as stock as possible, and hide everything that made it not stock... hehe
and then i'd show everyone what a little old 240 like mine can do
"no honda boy, thats not a loud as hell BOV, thats just my electronic BOV noise maker like you and all of your friends have... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> "
it would be a sleeper like none other.... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':zzzz:'>
thats just me though

If you're in the service put in for duty overseas in Japan. If you're into s13's get a silvia or whatever you want pretty much stay there for two years. After two years you rate shipping for a vehicle back to the states. That'll mean all you have to do is pay for any conversion. That plus overseas COLA pay and any overseas extension bonus you get and just the experience of going to the source of all the cars that we love, I think is worth it. You can get certain cars for dirt cheap if youknow where to look.

You've all got it wrong you should buy 280Z amd swap in an RB of your choice and mod the hell out of it and have it as a weekend car and then buy a 5speed S13 fastback for dailydriving and turbo it or get an SR with that 40gs

<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'> Put in bank.. with good interest, you'll be better off.
Or why not blow it all on 2 years worth of NoS!..
maybe not.
Bye lots of Chrome Rims, and then
sell them to ricers at a ridiculous price. then again maybe not.

$10k...
$3k on the coilovers [Could go with a number of brands and custom spring sets]
$1k on the swaybars [Cusco anyone?]
$500 on STB's
$1500 RXB, RLB, FLB [just estimating so it's easier to calc]
$3000 wheels and tires
last grand on bushings, tension rods, adj upper rear arms, subframe bushings, and retro fit the lower ratio HICAS steering rack in.
155hp car that can turn like a mofo <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

who says inflated?? heheh... if you're gonna be a big spender you might as well go all out.... and get the best of what you want.
Seriously, one bad ass car could be made with:
$5000 Fmax Stage II
$500 Apexi GT Spec Exhaust
$400 JWT Cams
$250 HKS Ignition
-----------------
$6250
$1800 JIC FLT-A2's w/pillowball mounts
$250 Whiteline Swaybars
$300 Cusco DS STBs
$200 Whiteline Urethane bushing set
$1200 P1's with rubber
-----------------
$3750
TOTAL
-----------------
$10000
Of course.... you'll still need to be able to stop...

cars are awesome but imagine investing that money for say 2 years. or the time your away at the army for so when you get out. BAM! tons of cash. maybe by then the EVO will be in the us and you could put a nice downpayment on that.

practicality says invest while your away and spend when your service is done.............but if not 3K on s15 conversion, 5K on s14 blacktop, 500 on a N1 dual, 600 on STB and Sway bars, and I'm sure the rest would get eaten up with stupid things like, down pipes, blow off valves, ECU upgrades, etc take your pick at anyone of these mysterious expences!!

Like I said go to Japan(it'll be free if you get stationed there). Buy a turbo charged car for lets say hmm.....1000 bucks(you can find them). Lets use a silvia for an example you can find a CA turbo silvia for about 1000 bucks or a SR powered one for a bit more and buy some HKS coilovers for about another 1500. and strip it down and tmo it back to the states. Bring the engine, tranny, ecu, harness, suspension, diff, hell the front end if you want. You get to spend time in Japan and if you want tour southeast asia for dirt cheap. If you're in the AF you know about the mac flights right. Take advantage.

If you want realistic, invest it. Put some of it into Vanguard's S&P 500 Index and you will see a big return after 3 years. Put some of it into a savings account, and you will get interest on that. With the rest of it, invest in a CD, and that will receive interest much faster than a savings account. Voila, if you're into saving...that's what you should do.

Arcane, read your very first post in this topic. You never once asked for advice on your car w/ the money. You simply asked what we would do if we had that money and then you told us what you would do, since you're getting that money.
Chill man. We are using our imaginations and listing what we may do if we were lucky enough to come into that kind of money. You asked for our opinions--if you don't like them then don't ask for them.
If I got $40k in hand, I seriously would put down a hefty down payment on an R33 from MotoRex and save the rest for mods. $10k--I'd turbo my KA and beef it up quite a bit.
