So im finally fed up with my oem fan on my s14 , its got a ka . does anyone know of any electric fan setups , that are specifically made for my application ? or possibly a universal setup that will work on it ? and would a single fan be enough ? or do i need to go with a dual fan if i am ridding of the oem one ? ive searched on the subject , and didnt find anything , so some help would be appreciated . thanks .

some guy on freshalloy with some cooperation with C&R did some radiator and fan test set-ups, and altima fans (the ones that came with a KA) outflowed all other fans. if i were you i'd pick some of them up at yer local junkyard. They're made by calsonic so you know they'll be good.

does this altima fan setup work with s13s also? i have a 92 with the dohc ka and would like to throw an electric fan in there. do i need to swap radiators also if i can go with one of the altima electric fans?

yeah it will work with s13s...the cars in the test were twin s13s with the same mods.

Altima twins or fal twins. same thing but bug price difference.

S13, s14, s15 radiators are the same, just different top mounting locations baby cakes.

what about altima fans on an aftermarket radiator? anyone know if that'll work no problem, or what?

ok so im gonna go with the altima fans , but heres my last question ... i dont want to have to use a switch , so how can i hook it up to a thermostat ? and where would the thermostat be located ? on the motor , or on the fan assembly ? thanks .

You will need to do some wiring in order to use the dual speed for the Alti Fans and a thermoswitch.
Quite simple IF you have both ends of the connectors.
I have mine (93) with a adjustable thermoswitch and the AC connector.
Very clean installation and works and looks just like factory installed.

can you describe how you installed yours?

How does it work? does one fan stay on with the ignition and the other fan come on at a set temperature? And when the AC is turned on both fans spin faster?

I picked up two sets of these fans, so I'd like to get as detailed of an install as possible (if possible). so post pics, post everything you can. :)

I am running one 14 inch elctric fan between my intercooler and air condensor. I just wired it to a hot wire when the from the switch but will change it to a temp control unit later. Been running it for about a month now with no problems at all. Actually runs alot cooler right now since it is not temp controlled.

Hope you have a dremel or something, cause the altima fans don't exactly fit between the rails. You'll need to trim about 1/4" to 1/2" plastic off each side.

I can't believe you searched and didn't find anything on this:

i have altima fans, yes i had to cut to fit, and wire them up, very simple and easy.

altima fans seem like the way to go.

i have a questions though. Sorry if im not very electically inclined, but what do you meen exactly but hooking it up to the relay or fuse? correct me if im wrong but the relays are in that box under the hood and the fuses are in the kicker panel of the driver side correct? So how exactly do you hook it up?

The cutting is minimal (at least on S13)
Mine are on at 186 degrees via thermistor and on with the AC (ECU AC controller)
Even at speeds over 25, the ECU turns off the AC fan, My setup works just like that, unless the thermistor sensor sees over 186.
If both conditions are met (AC on, under 25 and temp over 186) the fans are in high speed, until one of the conditions are cleared.
How and why 186. I have checked via MDM-100 and adjusted the thermistor. A little less, will turn the fans way earlier (160) a little more, the ECU will trigger the fans (overheat) at over 212.
The hardest part of this installation was the fitting itself. The wiring is quite simple IF you have both ends of the connectors. Treat the unit as a single fan with 2 speeds (2 positive wires, one high, one low) and a common ground.
For high speed operation, both positive wires must have power, for low speed, only one.
The fans will turn only one way
One positive was wired to the thermistor the other one to the AC connector, as simple as that.
Also
I will try to make a diagram on how I wire this thing up.

That diagram would be great... I'm confused as to why you'd need both ends of the connectors? Is that just so you can wire it up without having to have the fan assembly in there, and then just plug it in when you're done? Aren't the wires coming out of one of the plugs the same coming out of the other plug that it plugs into? I guess I'll go back to the junkyard and grab the other plugs...

You need the plugs from the fans (the ones with the fan assembly) and 2 mating ones(cant remember if the fasn are male, female etc). If you have an S13, in order not to cut your stock wiring (thing I hate) you will need the conector from the stock AC fan.
Basically 3 connectors (from the main harness, not the fan ones)
2 from a similar fan donor (4 wires setup)
If S13, one FAN connector
wire them so each connector has the same configuration (compatible with your car!!)
basically you will end with 8 wires coming out of the fans (2 connectors*4 wires, 2 positive, 2 neg) and 2 wires from your stock AC fan.
Use one circuit (4 wires, 2 pos, 2 neg) and connect them to the wires coming fromthe ac connector (the extra one you got). Now you have ECU fan controlled fans. Use a relay if you want to but the stock wiring is quite good (12 gauge in my case).
Now for the temp sensor or fan controller or Adjustable switch
You will have 4 remaining wires, connect them to the only connector left (again watch polarity) and connect them to a relay (optional but highly recomendable) and to the sensor.

Watch out for polarity
You can join all the ground to a common point and simplify the wiring a bit
Use good wiring (minimum 12 gauge) and put relays if in doubt. I placed the relay between the fan and the thermistor for safety. Also I used inline fuses on both incoming lines (AC and Thermistor 20 amps) plus a third one from the power supply to the thermistor, 5 amps)
When testing for polarity, dont do it while the fans are running. Dunno how, but if I spin (by hand) any of the fans the other one will spin too!!.
Be consistent with wiring color. Both fans have the same wire color, the connector (chassis side) dont
Mine were blue and yellow. I used yellow for ground, blue for power.
To test the AC controlled fan, turn on the AC (duh!!) or activate the AC relay (I removed the cap on the realy and pressed the relay closed).
Will try to get some pics of my installation along with more documentation for those interesting in this.
As I wrote. I havent cut any single wire in my car to do this. I can go back (never!!) to mech fan and install the AC aux fan again by disconnecting 3 harnesess.
Dont throw away your stock AC fan if still works. There you have a replacement motor and blades jus tin case.
Hope this helps!!

Altima fans are by far the most economical way to go if not the best way to go ( does this qualify for post whoreing??? hehehhehehhehe)
