my friend and i want rotas in custom sizes. though details are not clear, rota said that they would do it if at least 10 sets sell. just wondering if anybody wanted rotas in better sizes/offsets. thinking about either getting the gt3s or the work emotion replicas with lower offsets.. a lot of the other styles look good on s13/s14s too. anybody interested? :wiggle:

you know...posting sizes would probably be a good idea

i think 17x9+15 17x10 +22 would be good sizes (offsets are estimated)

i am really suprised at Rota not jumping on the Nissan bandwagon, and copying possibly few of the Nismo/SSR/Rays wheels. They have almost all the cool JDM wheels covered in 4x100 (aka civic/miata/corolla) and few of the ITR/s2k wheels, but nothing with less then 30et and larger then 15" and wider then 7". :sadwavey:

I'd get the slipstreams, but thats pretty much the FN of the honda world.

rota has some cool wheels with light weights, but their offsets blow donkey.

btw they come in upto 17x7.5 i believe. not just 15"

16x8+20
17x8+15
17X9+10
SlipStream
Attack
Circuit10
Tarmac
Any of those made with those offsets would sell out the ass. I would actually really like to start seeing AFFORDABLE low offset wheels. There are some out there but mostly super expensive. I would also like to see Rota move up to doing some forged wheels. I'm sure for how much cheaper they would be able to sell them people would buy them

i have some of their 18x8.5 subzero in bronze but the offset is something like +45 so they still look like ass on my s14 :( i need some of those fancy schmancy bolt on spacers...or 5lug and real wheels

So why are so many companies that make these rims make them with so much positive offset anyway? I dont see the point..

Because they're for FWD cars.

Anyway, I'm sure you could round up 10 or so people... but you need the following:

PICS of the product.
a PRICE, most importantly.
and you need to list SIZES so people can VOTE on what they want.

I'd buy a set of the Emotion replica's in 17x9 +20 offset(4-lug) or something along those lines depending on price.

I have the slipstreams, 16" in bronze, they look pretty good, besides the horrid offset... Everybody that sees them calls them "Spoon"s (the knock-off Rota copied).

anybody would like to have the real thing, but i along with many others don't have the cash. trust me, if i had the money, i would be rockin tcIIs or sf challenges or model 6s or weds or prof sp1s or cp tune r or (lists goes on and on and on) by now. i think rotas aren't that bad for the price, style, and weight. getting details tomorrow so...

Buying a set of rotas is like buying a pair of walmart jeans.

Wheels are the most important thing aesthetically on a car, why buy wheels that simulate the 'look' of badass wheels but are obviously fake, sit half a foot inside your fender, don't allow you to run a wide tire, and are not as strong (not that big a deal but true!)?
Save up, there are deals to be had out there...also the number of options for 'cheap' seems to be increasing...
My suggestion, buy used nice wheels...

except the price difference between Walmart jeans and Abercrombie Jeans is about $30 while the difference between Rota's and Spoon/Work/Volk etc... is like $800. Most Rota's are NOT "obviously fake." I've got buddies who rock Slipstreams and buddies who rock Spoon SW's and NOBODY can tell the difference. Also, your arguement about offset/width is the same reason why not that many folks on here run Rota's. Which is why the thread starter here is looking into getting Rota's made in PROPER offset and size.

Didnt spoon/rota basically copy the Regamaster Evo?
or is that the other way around?

if i could get them in the correct offset, i'd buy them in a second, even if they didnt have a lip.

Spoon and Regamaster Evo are the same wheels.

rota copied both of them

Spoon and Regmaster evo is the same wheel, just like Kosei and buddy club are teh same wheel.

I can't afford desmond regamasters. As sexy and ask strong as regamasters are, my car isn't such a high priority to me that i'll drop thousands on wheels for it. Many people race on rotas. i'll take em

if those "NOBODIES" cant tell a difference, then they dont know what they are looking for. Or they just dont care enough, good for them.

thats just me, im very picky about wheels, and theres an obvious difference between the Rota's and the Spoon's.....

Ian

yeah, build quality

but if you never reach that limit that the quality of the rotas has. then who cares?

that's like building an SR for 1000 hp, and then boosting 7psi on a T25...

what's the point?

Ugh... to tell the difference, you have to look at the back of the rim. On a car, you can't tell unless you were get down right next to the wheel and inspect it, which obviously nobody does.

Rota Slips

Spoon SW
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v518/nyteryda3/spoon.bmp

Slips are $400, Spoons are $1800. Anyone with common sense would rather buy the Slips and spend the saved $1400 on something else for their car. They might not be able to say their wheels were made in Russia, but they will be $1400 richer and have wheels that look exactly the same.

asthetics aside, the problem i think everyone sees is the lack of affordable wheel options in good sizing to wrap performance tires around. Kosei K1's come to mind...but that's about it. I'd like to see some track time. Tires are a huge expense to me, if I spent 2 grand on wheels I wouldn't have much money to go to the track, hence..making my car very much useless except for looking cool to people who beat it to jdm magazines.

biggest and most noticeable difference is the TEXTURE of the wheel...thats the most obvious....Rotas have a glossy look to them whereas Spoons have the rough powdery look.....

thats what makes you KNOW for sure that they are either rota's or spoons? because you get that same look with dirty slips or spray painted slips. see-

what word...
the best i got the to do was a 16x8 +20 so far.
its all about interest.
i always talk to them see if i can get like a 17x8 or a 8.5 in low offset but so far i've been getting shot down like a duck in hunting season.

For those of you who are still interested in getting some rota's in better sizes/offsets, here is what I have come up with SO FAR after talking with a shop:

They do make a 17x8.5 Rota Slip, but the offset is 45(I believe for STI). So seeing that makes me think that they are willing to make wheels wider than 8"

The best offset they have now is the 16x8 +10 Rota Grid(TE-37 replica). They are custom order wheels, and take about 2-3 months to get. I think Ard Josh is the man to thank for this, and I believe he actually has a few sets in stock.

Then there is the Rota Action(Advan RCII replica) that they will make in 17x7.5 +18(4x114.3) if they get 10 people to order sets. Now for me, thats a HUGE step in the right direction for us getting Rota to make proper fitting wheels for us. I love the way the wheel looks, and the offset is good. Only thing is, the wheel isn't very wide. 7.5" wide is nice and all, but I honestly don't want to run anything less than an 8" wide wheel, and REALLY prefer a 9" wide wheel. So I told the guy I'm speaking with to run a few ideas by Rota:

1. Rota Action in 17x9 +18 offset.
2. Rota Action in 17x8 or 17x8.5 in +18 offset.
3. Rota Slipstream in 17x8.5 in +18 offset.

I think that there is a chance this guy can get Rota to make something like this happen. I think I have convinced him there is a HUGE market here that he/Rota can tap into with a nice wide/low offset rim in 4 lug.

Ard Josh, I know that you have been trying to get Rota to do something like this. Maybe if they hear it from enough of their vendors, they will begin to realize that they can make a ton off of us 4 lug 240 owners just like they do off the honda crowd.

I don't think they will make just 1 set in a certain size for each individual person. They make them in bulk, so they want AT LEAST 10 orders of 1 wheel, 1 size, 1 offset to even consider it. They already have 16x8 +10, thats close enough to 16x8.5 +0 that they wouldn't bother making that size. I'm hoping they will make something along the lines of 17x9 +20 since that would be appealing to both S13 and S14 base owners.

More good news about this! I emailed Rota Wheels directly and here is the jist of the response:

"I believe we can make it in Slipstream and Torque in 17x9 4x114.3 in 20 offset.
Thank you for your interest in Rota wheels.
I will let you know soon."

Slipstreams= Regamaster Replica's
Torque= Work Emotion Replica's
