has anybody done that yet?...basically filling in the existing pcd (by welding or something similar i suppose) and then redrilling to a different PCD. i am not referring to enlarging the existing like 4x100 to 4x114.3.
i found some watanabes but was thinking of getting either a custom hubcentric adapter or getting them filled then redrilled.
searched but didn't find any posts on it. if anyone finds it please refer me to it.
thanks.

I was thinking about doing this as well. But I wanted to change the bolt pattern from 4x108 to 4x114.3. It is hard to find places that can or are willing to redrill wheels. Some people also say that it is very dangerous to tamper with the structure of the wheel, while others have done it and have had great results. Basically what I came up with was people who have done it, endorse it, while people who haven't are very skeptical about the process.

Since you're in the Bay, try wheeltechniques in Santa Clara and see if they'll do it.
If not, there's always FRED GOESKE! http://www.wheeladapters.com/
And I am pretty sure ALTA or whatever in SoCal will do it. Ask a SoCal guy
Have fun.

sounds bad. I would run spacers/adapters before doing that

but then, if the wheels had hubcentric rings would that alleviate the problem with the pcd. i have heard of people recommending against redrilling/enlarging, but not much on fill. i will probably try to test it out on some cheap wheels and see how they turn out...
maybe try adapters if i can't find a good shop.
