Has someone actual retrofitted a projector into the S13 flipup lights for the purpose of using HIDs? I'm looking into it as i'm interested in doing it. I have only seen people retro fit them into s14 lights. How much work do you think would actually be required?

clearcorners.com guy, pretty pricey but it's proffesionally installed and it looks pretty good. save your money and put in higher output bulbs. HID's will just get you unwanted attention and i do think it's illegal in most places. good luck though

If it is your first time, approximately 25 hours. Alot of patience needed for retrofits, and you would also need new clear headlights and bi-xenon projectors and then a relay for the bi-xenon, and then... well it's alot of work. WWW.HIDPLANET.COM

You need to search.

There's already several threads on this, one of which is fairly recent...

Search but here's something to get you going. The Hella 90mm projectors (what quite a few people, including clearcorners.com, myself, halo, and several others use) are completely sealed, self-contained projectors that obviously can be exposed to the elements. These projectors come in H7, H9, and d2S (HID) varieties but the H7 and H9 can be modified to use HID bulbs very easily. There...now GO!

Don't take this the wrong way, I appreciate everyones help but don't tell me to do a search (specifically kazuo and mr_240sx). I wouldn't ask the question if I had not already did the search and found what I was looking for. So if you don't have anything to contribute besides use the search function don't post anything at all. I was just looking for more options as I don't live in california and clearscorners is not an option for me, therefore whatever I do I will have to fab up. My actual question should have been is there a such thing as people retrofitting projectors into clear unflutted h4 housings. I have never seen it and I'm interested in doing it if it is possible. Also Scott man do you have a write up with pics available? Thanks to everyone who has helped me.

the reason that i said to search is because there is already a couple of threads about this subject. try " in house projects" or "in house installations"!!

I don't have a writeup because, frankly, it's really not the type of thing that would warrant a writeup. You just have to put the projector in the bucket, cut, do it again, cut, etc. Just a lot of trial and error. The closest you can come to a writeup would be Halo's thread (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=27724). That should definitely get you started. Just like Halo, you may be satisfied with the halogen performance and not need HID except for the bling factor. My advice to you would be to buy the H7 Hella 90mm projectors, then use an H7 rebased D2S or an H7 to d2S adapter, both of which many, many Valeo retrofits are made with. Then, if you have inspections in your state, grab the Hella 90mm high beam unit in H9 or H7 (doesn't really matter) and, without sounding like a tool, just follow Halo's lead.

Retrofitting isn't like "biting someone's style". Since we have pop-ups your only choices are using a clear sealed beam housing (which most projectors with d2S bulbs and pigtails won't fit in because of depth clearance) and worry about the junk quality of the eBay housing and the fluting in the lens (because they all seem to have SOME)...OR...use the Hella self-contained units like we're discussing.

I wanted to use the sealed beam housings myself but it was too much of a hassle for a final product that didn't look as clean as the Hella units.

Most of us understand that sometimes it's hard to find the helpful threads when you search but I think most people were a little miffed at the fact that Halo's thread was JUST bumped a week ago. BUT...I myself had to search 3 times to find that thread just so I could link you to it. :loco:

People are also less bothered by specific questions. The search button does need to be made larger, like half the size of the screen. If you diddnt find the useful threads try harder, they are quite extensive. Halo left a lot of information on here along with some others

like many said there are tons of infos you can find to retrofit a projector in a headlight housing. the only thing that is different from you and others is the experience. in my opinion, retrofit projector in sealbeam housing looks like an ass, however there are many projectors that you can choose to put there. but retrofit a hella 90mm unit doesn't give you any choice because that's the only thing you can put there except for the fact that you can choose to put either D2s H9 and H7. and putting the 90mm unit in isn't something you can finish in a day, unless you are very very very ..... skillful. it takes a lot trial and errors to get everything work out. the last time i pm Halo about his setup, he said there is still a little flaw in it, not sure if he has that fixed now. in my setup i have work out all the bugs and is working flawless, if you are interested in getting a kit from me instead of make one from scratch. send me a pm or email.
here is a pic of my setup after i finish installing it. sorry for the quality.

Thanks again for all the help guys. I saw Halos thread and I read it many times but like I said I was just wondering if anyone had actually done the conversion with the h4 housings. I was just exploring my options.
