Hello all...I searched for miles and couldnt find anything helpful in the archives and I was hoping someone could help me out by giving me some direction if anything. Problem(s) im having is that my engine(ka24e) is bogging right around the 2500 rpm limit and its doing this in every single gear (5 speed). I just bought the car bout 3 weeks ago or so and it just started doing this about 10 days ago. I replaced the following in an attempt to remedy:plugs -wires- cap- rotor- fuel filter- oil/filter- o2 sensor- valve cover gasket- and finally cat converter. I also had timing reset and im STILL having the same problem- thought it could be the valves or some form of exhast back pressure but im doubting now. I am this close to taking it to the dealership (which i utterly hate) but it seems like i have no choice. Any helpful ideas - suggestions - questions would be deeply appreciated. Thanks :)

Have you tried pulling the codes yet? If you don't know how I think there is something on 240sx.org that explains it.
If I remember right, you basically get to your ECU (pass kick panel) and twist the mode knob clockwise from 7 oclock to 5 oclock. leave it there for 2 seconds then turn back to 7 oclock. Then turn on the key and the check engine light will flash your codes to you (the ECU also has a red LED that flashes). Slow flashes are "worth" 10 and fast flashes are worth one, so "SLOW SLOW SLOW FAST FAST FAST FAST" would be code 34, etc.. When you're done turn back from 7 to 5, hold it, then back to 7. That will clear the codes (go for a drive then pull them again). That might help point you in the right direction.
Also you may want to try cleaning your MAF using a carb cleaner... Same with cleaning your throttle body. Check your engine ground straps too to make sure they aren't corroded/detached/broken/etc...
Good luck!

go to your local kragen or autozone or any parts store and buy the electrical plug cleaner(or something like that) and clean all the electrical plugs u can get your hands on for example the MAF sensor, TPS etc. My sohc had a slight bog, but after i did that it went away.

If you are having trouble getting past 2500 RPM's, it definitely has to do with your MAFS.

yea, there might be a hose that you might have forgotten to fasten back into place and the air isn't going through the mafs, but instead coming in from the opened hose somewhere else. but if all else fails, try the knock sensor, my friend has a supra turbo, and the same thing happened, we thought it might have been a boost leak, but after checking everything, it was after all, the knock sensor. good luck.

Could definitely be MAF or even a loose/broken vac hose. Does the car rev to 2500 okay? Does it rev past 2500? or is it only a *slight* power loss at 2500? How long does the bog feeling last for?
Keep us posted & GL!
