I just ordered an Injen Intake

I was just wondering if an intake really makes a difference for car performance. Also my friend just put in an injen intake and it sounded very good, would a 97 240sx have the same loud sound?

You'll definately hear a low growl at WOT, as far as power goes, you probably won't notice all that much from the intake itself, It's more of a helper mod to get the air flowing more freely. For example, you might pick up 4-5 horsepower from the intake alone, and maybe 7-8 with an exhaust alone, but with the intake and exhaust combined it might be more like 16 or so. That's probably a bit inflated, but that's basically how it works.
