hey i just bought this intercooler as its cheap and not a bad size. first has anyone else bought this core, if so is it bar and plate, the pick shows bar and plate but im thinking its prolly not going to be...

second is this thing going to fit ok or am i going to be doing some major cutting...

third i think im just going to run 3in piping all around, what do you think? im going to be running the stock t25 for alittle bit and im running a equal length mani... most likly am upgrading to a incon bb37 or a 2871 in a couple months...

thanks,
clayton

wow, that's really cheap... like frighteningly so.

By your name, i'm assuming that you're s13.
The stock diameter from the turbo (hotpipe) is not 3"... I'd have to go measure, but best guess, I think it's about 2-2.5". As far as cutting, you'll still have to do some cutting thru the bottom of the engine bay (hotpipe) and thru the battery tray, unless you plan on moving the radiator back and putting it in front, or running a V-mount setup.

Any way you go, it's going to be custom piping all the way. Cutting shouldn't be more than any other FMIC. Get someone to weld a tab onto the center-rear of the IC to mount to you hood latch assembly, sawzall the crap out of your bumper support (or remove it entirely if you're brave). Retaining your bumper support AND keeping it fairly sturcturally sound will probably be your biggest challenge, aside from the piping.

I don't think I told you anything you didn't already know, but reinforcement is good, now you have a more solidified to-do list :D

i was aware of the cutting on the batt tray and the other side... i usually weld all my own piping soo ill probobly hack the bumper to make the intercooler fit and then i will go buy some steal and weld some new metal onto it, as i feel it is probobly a pretty good staibilizer stock.... hey your right i do get what i pay for soo we will see when it gets here... if its bar and plate i will be shocked... if it tube and fin i still wont be too disapointed.. but ass far as intercoolers go there a pretty simple device that if put together by a good welder, will most likly be decent.. i doubt the core is just a pile! but hey i guess we will know in a couple days... if its a shitter im going to return it and buy the hybrid one for about 35$ more
