i'm doin it cuz of the lack of wheel choice in 4-lug. not sayin there aren't any, just no where near the number of choices . plus i'm upgrading to 300ZX front brakes (bigger) and they are 5-lug only. u can drill the 300ZX rotors to fit 4-lug, but then ur back to wheel choice dilema .
for the 5-lug conversion, S14 front req's spindles & hubs, S14 rear req's only hubs. i'm not sure of S13.....someone else will fill ya in there

some Japanese company called "GARAGE THRASH" sells 5-lug hubs for 180sx for I think 48000yen for front and 36000yen for rear which is around $840.00.

And believe it or not breaking is different between a 4lug car and a 5lug car.

Go to any import junkyard and find a S14 240SX that has 5 lug hubs, pull the front spindles, rotors, and hubs, and the rear hubs and rotors from the car. You need to retain the S13 control arms, however you need to install S14 lower ball joints in place of the stock S13 units. The spindle/hub/rotor should all bolt on from there. The rear is a bolt on deal as well...

pwuahhhhhhhh!

go thru them and get ass fucked. i got my front hub knuckle and spindle for 160

you also need s14 ball joints

with 5 lug the weight of a vehicle is transfered more evenly as opposed to 4 lug. more rims as already stated.

How does changing from one lug to another change break ballance? Wouldent that be in the proportioning valve? And what years and modles have the 5 lug?

Sorry im new to Nissan. I hate being a newbie all over again.

I believe the 1995 and up 240sx's (S14) had 5 lug rims/wheels. The '88 - '94 (S13) models all had 4 lug wheels. Unfortunately for me.

I plan to do the 5-lug swap soon, if I can find someone to help me out. (i.e. someone w/ a lift; a shop)

hth!

there is a kit avaiable at........

www.pdm-racing.com

ask for DON NIMI........he is a good guy with what i have heard.
i did my 5 lug swap with help of my mechanic and my COUSIN who did most of the work.

if you know what to get and stuff and are pretty mechanical yourself, you can do it on your own and it will be much cheaper.

TO FIND out what to get first, talk to DON or go to their website and note down the parts of that kit.

than i know this guy RUZZELL who sells good parts for z cars to help u out more....

another place sells rest of the stuff online which my cousin ordered......don't know the name of place offhand.....

there is one little trick to all this.....you have to find out which Z CALIPERS TO GET as 90 model will not fit some application as 91+ or vice versa.

hope this helps

4lugs will have a little bit less bite than 5lugs because there is less support, therfore they will "bend" a little more than 5lugs with the added support. Kind of like adding the strut bar to make the chassis more rigid.

but wouldn't the rubber of the tire break lose way b4 the hard metal of the lug studs start to bend? and if the lugs did bend everytime hard braking occurs, how come i don't notice it when i take off the wheels? shouldn't it show some kind of stress. i'm a little confussed about how can 5lugs have a braking advantage over 4lugs?

It makes perfect sense if you think about it logically. Think of it this way, you are putting X amount of load on each lug. If you have one lug then X amount is so great, but if you have two, then the load on each lug is half of what it was when you had just one lug.
Plain and simple when things have to work less, then they can do a better, more efficient job.

im pretty sure that its the s14 and s14a (95-98) SE models that have the 5-lug

right I total agree that 5lugs will handle load better then a 4lug pattern can, but someone mentioned that there is a braking difference between the two. is this true? So does this mean that I will stop sooner if I upgrade to a 5lug pattern?

Only if you have the Z32 calipers installed.

All S13s are 4 lug. The S14 is only 5 lug if it is the SE model. Base models for 95-98 are 4. I know, I have a 95 with the damn 4 lug wheels, and yenpit is right, it takes alot more looking to find a nice set of 4lug wheels.

***Dreamin I had z32 brakes***
