Blew a head gasket, balancing options of fixing engine or swapping engine.

If I fixit, I get off cheap. But I do not have the hp I want (about 200). I was hoping the engine would live a little longer and I could raise more funds. I am in a lot of debt already which makes this option the most practical for the moment.

But the engine could be screwed in other areas. I am trying to get the oil pan off to check the connecting rods. I thought it would be easy but it is not. Whoever messed with the pan before cross threaded some bolts, some I could take of with my fingers.

What is the best way to get to the oil pan bolts next to the transmission?

And where is the cylinder drain plug? And what does it drain? Chiltons lists it as a first step, but does not show where it is and does not mention it anywhere else in the book.

If it turns out to be screwed, I need another engine. I am leaning towards a KA24de. I can't find them as cheap as I thought they would be. Is this engine reliable? I see a lot of 240sx for sale with blown head gasket ads.

Next would be CA18det, smaller engine with a small turbo @175hp. Don't know if I am sold on it.

Next would be the RB, I like the power, relatively cheap. But is there any advantage in this over a KA24de that I could turbo later?

SR...outa my price range

Sorry if some of these questions are routine. I have done research, but have not made my mind up about engines.
