i had a small electrical fire last week in my s13. basically this part caught on fire and luckily i was in a parking lot when it happened and it didn't cause too much damage. what i'm trying to figure out is what exactly is this part. i looked in the FSM and i'm thinking it is a resistor that runs inline with the ignition coil harness. what do you guys think?

would i just need to cut that small section off the harness and rewire in a new resistor?

TIA

im pretty sure that has to do with something that doesn't matter. if your car runs just cut it, wrap the end in tape, and call it a day.

Or it could the ignition condenser, which you need.

R240NA, i think you're right... in the FSM its labeled F35 - resistor and condenser

hence the "if your car runs without it" condition. it just looked like the thing i pulled off that emissions crap i removed from the car.
