I don't like it--too bubbly and not aggressive at all. Not to mention the fact that it's a 4-door.

It looks like the skyline is returning to its roots. DO a search on it and the actual nameplate goes back into the '50s origianlly as a sports sedan. This model will be over here in a few short months. Infiniti G35 and I can not wait to see it. I really want to be able to get an up close look at the car and see how it stands against other sport sedans of that nature. The BMW 3 series, Merc. C class sport, VW passat, Caddy CTS ect....But so far from pictures I am liking it. OH yeah the GTR is in new development but that if I remeber correctly is becoming a different car and nameplate totally know as "GTR"

I have seen pics of the R-33 and R-34 as 4-dr sedans, and I think the Skyline has always been a 4-dr sedan and the Skyline GT-R is a 2-dr version of that sedan. This is a new model of the Skyline, just without the 2-dr GTR version. What Nissan plans to do is make the Skyline and Skyline GT-R two different cars in both body and style. So you can except to see a Skyline GT-R in the near future, but don't expect it to share any resemblance(sp?) to the current Skyline sedan.

weve had this discussion many o times the skyline and gtr are diferent names. now they are keeping em diff and seperate. the gtr is the son of the previous r32-34 and whatever was before it

that skyline is an american infiniti g35 rwd. lemme tell you it's a nice ass car and finally a rwd! hopefully the alitima and maxima become rwd

i dunno, ive seen both 4door and 2door versions of that car and my mind is really in turmoil

hmmm, ive seen some of these with the factory lips and such and they look really really good (even the 4door models) but nissan's been sorta reserved about disclosing actual specs on options and such and sports packages. the 2 door (the GTR) does look very similar to this 4door version (cept uglier in my view ) which is totally backwards in my opinion, but im sure nissan will make something good of it (or rather i hope) because of what ive seen them do in the past. all in all, it IS a really powerful sports car and it does promise all that nissan's ever stood for (along with looks, i have seen some of these that look really good, however few and far between); and along with nissan's current rep and what they wanna keep up as their rep, i guess we just hafta have faith that this one doesnt "sink" so to speak. well, i guess i can just stay hopeful hehe.

The skyline has ALWAYS been a 4 door sedan. Even with the R32-R34, they sold way more Skyline sedans than GTR's. It's like BMW with the 3 series and M3. When you say Skyline to someone in Australia or Japan, they will probably think of the sedan.

umm the Infiniti G35 is here already... actually it looks pretty nice... digging the reverse back-up camera and the semi-adjustable rear seats

nissan is doing the same thing toyota did with the supra celica. toyota split the names into two diff. cars. nissan is diong the same. theyre splitting the skyline and the gtr. they will have similar engines except obviously the gtr will be more powerful. they might also have a very similar chassis. the skyline has always had a 4-door version and they also had a coupe that was not a gtr. the gtr AFAIK was only a coupe. i expect that this change will mean for a faster gtr and a better handling one since it doesnt have to conform to a sedan anymore...its free

The concept GTR which I have seen in alot of the mags and on freshalloy is kinda cool. Though one must keep in mind it is the first concept model so there is bound to be a few revisions ahead before it comes to production, it had tail lights in the styles like the corvette and that is a beautiful thing:) Can not wait to see what it is going to be like typical 400+ hp hopefully with awd

LoL.... statements like this (just picking on this one, too lazy to actually quote em all) (and aside from R34 and R35 being mixed up apparently) just show how little people actually know about the "real" Skyline (and how little people actually read other posts).

It's my understanding .. the Skyline and the GT-R will become two seperate cars. . Nissan Skyline, and Nissan GT-R. .
Friend is actually getting a G35 when they come here... so I'm hoping he'll lemme drive >=)

This happens everytime nissan comes out with a new skyline. They're not going to seperate them like the celica and the supra and its always been like this. Nissan always come out with the sedan version and then about a year later they come out with a GTR. You can take a look at some of the R32 and R33 skyline sedans and they look nothing like the GTR version. This isn't as bad as some of the older skyline like the newman and the tekkamen styles where they came out with a 4 cylinder single cam version and station wagons. Its just a new skyline. Everyones is gonna be going through the same thing in about three year when they come out with a new body style again. Remember they change models every 4 years again and the G35 has been out for about a year already

Sure. . but the way it's been, you have a coupe and a sedan version of the Skyline, with the sedan being released first... The GT-R is just a version of the coupe form of Skyline. It's been like this for a long time. GT-R IS a Skyline, first and foremost. But. . it's been rumored that there will be a Skyline and a GT-R. . two seperate cars, with two seperate appearances I'd imagine... Might still be a Skyline coupe, but if this happens it won't be a GT-R, and probably won't even look like it.

How do you figure? Ive seen plenty of old skyline pics (back to like 1960) and none of those really screamed "PT CRUISER!" like this one does.

LoL. Like I said... didn't mean to pick on your post singularly. I might've just read it wrong, but it just seemed like you were adding to the group of people complaining that it's a sedan.

For one thing, I don't think the G35 looks like a PT Cruiser (and I don't think PT Cruisers are 260hp RWD luxury sports sedans). For another, I think it's part of Nissan's design plan to have similar styling throughout it's line to solidify some sort of recognition of Nissans as Nissans (something like BMW's and Benz's being easily recognizeable just from the grill). It's true that the G35 is missing the signature circle tail lights, but those tails are supposedly going to the GTR anyways.

The Skyline is a Nissan first, and a luxury sports sedan second. There's no twin turbo firebreathing monster about it. That's the basic jist of what I'm trying to get across. When it comes to Nissan's single package of every technical gadget and gizmo in their R&D grab-bag... it'll be a GTR.

I was under the impression that the GT-R was ALWAys a beefed up steroid version of a sportsedan. I thought the skyline has always had this luxo-sedan look and feel unless you were to buy it in the GT and GT-R versions anyway.?

I have no problem with it being a sedan, not one.

My problem is the whole retro-curby-bubble-futuristic whatever look that they gave it, i liked the agressive straight lines, this car reminds me of the stay-puft marshmallow man. Plus the no-circular-tail light thing doesnt sit well with me, but if the GTR keeps it, then theres no problem.

I see what everybody is saying about the new skyline, but still you got other skylines that don't have the round taillights like some of the R31 models and if you look at the four door sedan version of the R32,33,and the 34 you'll find some models that just look like a regular pseudoluxury sedan. The GTS-t and the GTS25T versions looks like the GTR but in all actuality they're two totally different car. I'm putting my trust in nissan with the GTR and the skyline. everytime they changed the engine out people criticised about how it wasn't right but they always prove us wrong, especially with the RB26DETT. When the R32GTR first came out people criticised it because it wasn't a high revving engine, but people love and respect that engine now. Me personally, I'm thinking about finding a Japan or kenmary model and fix it up and drive it because thats my favorite model. There have been alot of changes to the skyline between 1957 and now......I can't wait to see what happens next

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ya hoping Nissan loses money. what an ignorant ass statement!
If Nissan loses money we as Nissan lovers suffer. they discontinue cool models and stop making extra parts for our cars to save money and so forth. Thats a real winner.
Oh yeah by the way wonton the skyline has always been a luxury sports sedan with the GTR being the hot rod version.
I happen to think the Car does not look half bad at all.
When I saw pics of the 350z I was like I don;t know? When I saw the car in person I was wow that works. I suspect the Skyline/G35 will get the same response from me . Plus stop dissing . We finally have the Skyline on American soil direct from Nissan as a new car. That is just too cool. There are a lot of Nissan Fanatics out there that have waited a long time for this day.
Nissan is finally giving the Americans the cool cars again . the 350z is f*****g awesome and I suspect the GTR will be too and we are going to get it.
So just shut up with the stupid ass statements. Until you go out and learn something about the history of the company of the cars we love.

this should be a time for rejoicing. The skyline is finally going to make it into the states and they're bringing back the Z-car. They have an actuall WRX and they're going to be bringing the EVO here too. Hey, if we're lucky Toyota would bring their MarkII/Chaser/Cresta line over here or even better give the GS300/400 its 2JZ that its supposed to have and also bring the 1JZ over too.
