here's a suggestion: get some tact

my signature was 424x100 or a LITTLE larger than what was specified in the user agreement. woopee do. Not even sure why you guys have such a hard on for sig size anyway.

Instead of leaving an unpleasant note in my sig, you could have simply PM'd me and I would have resized it. Its the little things that make this place less than cool.

That thing was huge!

what resolution are you on, 640x480???

for reference, the sig in question (which is actually two pix side by side)

for visual comparison, another user's sig

but im not complaining about that, just the lack of tact.

I don't see what was wrong with it.. seeing as it's 4% wider than spec, but 50% narrower.
However, the limit is here to keep sigs from bieng monitor-sized.. ala TampaRacing ;)

personally i think the limit should be 600 x 100. it's the tall sigs, not the wide ones, that bother most people.

The reason for the edit instead of the PM is simply because users tend to ignore or claim to have not received said PMs. a sig edit gets the job done in one fell swoop. Dunno who edited your sig, what was put into it instead, and I'm not defending anybody, but I could understand a little attitude. Considering there's probably a few excess sigs per day that get noticed by mods, it gets rather old after awhile.
We do what we can to stay patient, but blatant disregard for the rules *is* annoying. Of course, ignorance is no excuse.
I'm tempted to ask Mark to disable sigs entirely, except to premium members and other members the mods choose.

I used to have a sig that was too big because the mods didn't post a "read before posting" sticky but they have one now. However, one of the mods left a message on my used cp saying: "YOUR SIG SUCKS!!!!" WTF is THAT all about??? That's about as lame and tactless as it gets. Anyway, everything's been fixed but I had to add my 2 cents so that everyone is aware.

couldnt agree more, width is less of a problem than height.

Tact? Exactly how much more tact would you like me to have used. The message I left in you signature space was as follows:

Signature Exceeds Maximum Limits set by User Agreement.
Deleted by Moderator.

There is nothing demeaning or hurtful in that statement. It is simply fact. When you signed up for Zilvia, the signature limits were listed in the User Agreement you should've read. That is the same message I use for all users. If this place is "less then cool" and you can't handle fact, then feel free to leave Zilvia. Sure I could let your signature slide, but I don't have to. I treat everyone the same. 400 pixels wide, 200 pixels tall, maximum. No exceptions.

How sure are you that it was a mod? That is - if it was, who was it?
Any user who gives you reputation feedback will have their comments end up on your User CP. As far as I know, only mods and admins can see who gave their reputation.

you could have just pm'd me the same info and let me delete it on my own is all I'm saying. I'm not some of the kids that you are used to dealing with. I run my own site, I do the same thing you guys do all the time and then some and our site is busier! A little courtesy goes a long way towards respect. Had I known that 24 pixels (I didn't know it had exceeded it) was THAT big a deal, I would have checked and not added it in the first place. Its really about the most silly rule I have ever heard of, especially being so stringent about it, but whatever

Now do you have any further disputes or are you satisfied? You have your way of doing things on your site, and we have our way on Zilvia. As I stated before, if you don't like it here, you don't have to stay.

its apparent Jeff and mrmephistopheles are the only reasonable mods around here. It appears you take pride in being as big a prick as possible, so there's no winning with you thatguy. Whatever gets your rocks off, hope you get back at that mean daddy of yours (or whatever it is crammed up your ass) by way of harrassing helpful users. I'll gladly take my knowledge base elsewhere.

So I'm an unreasonable prick who has standards and sticks to them? I am an unreasonable prick because I expect people to follow the rules they agreed to when signing up on Zilvia?

Not trying to be a prick here, I just want to make sure I know what I'm being accused of.

Well, After the message was received my sig was edited i.e. deleted. Who else could have done that? Anyways, sorry if I ruffled any feathers. I just wanted to say that the way it was handled was kind of harsh but since it's over and done with no hard feelings.

Whoever sent you that rating, probably contacted a Mod or Admin at the same time. I get messages all the time about other people's sig. I wouldn't send you a message saying YOUR SIG SUCKS! though.

same here. I could honestly care less about the content of ppl's sigs (as long as it's appropriate for the forum).

Oh wow thanks for clearing that up! All this time I thought it was you that did it. I guess there are "hater assassins" on this board hehe. Anyway, no hard feelings :)
