Coolant resevoir came that way, duct tape and all, we replaced it, the swap wasn't completely done in those pics, we also added a Greddy RS BOV. All of our swaps look that nice.

Nice swap. Too bad that motor sucks.

Stock RB20, I guess you could say it sucks, but mine isn't stock so I rock it, which motor do you prefer Blue808? I'll post some pics of our RB24 build soon.
The Greddy RS is a nice BOV, not too loud on a stcok 20 just because there's only 10 psi for it, kinda like the HKS SSQV where you really need abouve 16 psi to make some noise.

awesome.... now its time to take it to nopi and tell everybody you have a skyline engine!!!! who cares if the rb20 sucks.... it came from a skyline!!!

yeah. OK. 194hp/176tq to the wheels with more weight and less available parts than a SR. I thought people swapped engines to gain an advantage, not lose. :loco:
I wonder why the Japanese guys swap out RB20s for Sr20s

well I like it, has a lot of potential...clean swap you have there, mine looks like a damn jungle..and hey night I think he forgot to mention that its WHP not crank rem. you loose like 15% of the power to the drivetrain! so its pretty good for a 2.0 stock and he has good trq. all way through powerband.

Well one of the pro's is that is a bit cheaper than the sr...

I just dont like those motors, the ports in the head are laughable compared to a 25-26.
but whatever,

...until you start trying to get parts

What parts would you need, any major parts can be gotten over here already, us and plenty others keep them on hand. Of course the ports will be smaller than the 25 and 26, but it's only a 2 liter. It dynos more than any stock SR I've seen, redtop or blacktop. 50 pounds ain't shit, too many people are too worried about something so little. What upgrade parts do you need, I can have you 450 out of it using universal parts, hardest part to find is a intake manifold. Plus a 4 cylinder will never sound like a inline 6.

did you use custom engine/transmission mounts?
E&ERacing
02-17-2005, 07:38 PM
We use custom motor and tranny mounts, I don't like the feel or ride with the r32 crossmember. It doesn't seem to be as smooth, more vibrations.

Does your shop have a dyno? If so... is there anyone capable of tuning an Rb25 with PFC and Hand commandor?
...Don't say you have to have datalogit to tune... you don't... datalogit is only easier to use because you can see the entire screen instead of segments on the hand commander... oh and it lets you access a few more things that cannot be accessed through the hand commander....
How much by the hour?... Def. want to use a wideband when tuning also

Your statement makes you sound like your in denial rather then a question. And Im not being bias, since I too have a commander on my pfc. Hey Eric, how does a v10 sound compared to a I6;) keep in touch:)

420 240, We don't have an in-house dyno we have one that we use, but if you are talking about some major tuning, I would recommend taking it over to batlground, they should be capable of dyno-tuning you pfc. www.batlground.com Other than that we take take care of any of your RB needs. V10's sound wicked Voya, I am building my RB24 right now, plus one of my wrecker yards just got in a new Titan with under 100 miles on the chassis, what you think on a 560SXTT? No replacement for displacement right? VenomSX would be nice too:)

That swap looks great. You guys look like you do good work.
(off topic) that car in you sig pic. Does it have a bent core support?
The Riot Hero
02-18-2005, 05:10 AM
damn, that core support looks wasted, very clean swap, im doing a RB20 swap into an s14 next week, alittle nervous whether nor not i can pullit off. lol.

Sweet, best of luck to you on your swap, not too many rb20 s14's out there. Generally the turbo and intercooler draws the attention and not too many people noticed it, the car got totaled before we could fix the front . Now we have a red SE that we're doing a 20 on now, while we build our 24. We have 2 more 20's we're finishing today one hb, and one drop-top, I'll post some more pics.

Old motor, newer car. I would never put a 20 in an s14.
350Z with a CA, now there is a swap.

Damn nice motor man. My friend just picked up his RB20 front clip. He's got the 240 itself sitting beside the CCR shop and the clip inside waiting for the transplant to begin. They look so sexy. He's got a black engine, though. I kinda like that red color more, though.
Nice numbers coming from that engine. Always nice when you have a hp/tq number that is so close. How does it run? So are you stroking this RB20 to a 2.4 or are you going another RB20?

You've never driven a RB20 S14 have you Jay? Very nice, feels like the motor should have came in the car like that. I'll see you around town and let you drive it, then you can he how the SR stands up. I like the Rb20 because it has more torque like the KAT, but the rev's of a SR.

02-18-2005, 01:59 PM
Yeah, a smooth inline 6 with high revs is something I'd like too. If I were ever to do that swap, I'd tune it very modestly for a perfect midrange-high power/torque response.
Smooth engines are insanely addicting..especially a balanced 6 cylinder engine such as VQ's and inline RB's

I think Id ka-t before the 20. A nice ka-t will give you about 260 flbs of torque and thats plenty. But rb20's are just old man! In an s13 maybe but a 14?
Eric what cars are these rb's coming out of? Z31 or R32?
Oh and I'll take a ride in the rb s14 but what i really want to ride in is your ka-t. Mmmm..... good

You wanna feel a real 240 Jay, I don't think you can handle the torque of a KA-t, you'll see our new one soon enough, it's going into a rhd custom, that should weigh in under 2200 pounds with a full tank of gas and lay down over 600 to the wheels.
Come on out to the shop sometime Jay, I'd still like to check out your swap.
