if you have the money, you can make it happen. it might only last one run down the drag strip though :bite:

1000hp from a 4banger.. thats like really straining the engine.. possible.. but wont last long.. get a v8 and do it for reliability..

PHAT KA-T's 240sx drag car has a goal of a 7 second quarter miles... How much horsepower do you need to reach that goal... As it is on their S13 Hatch they are making 500+HP and running 11's, that should say something about how much power the S14 drag car will make.

rb26's can do 8's on quarter miles and they're only .2 liters bigger than KA's, but then again, rb's have 2 more cylinders.

There are 1000+ hp SR2(2)'s in the world.. no reason a properly built KA couldn't do it.

I think if you properly built it you could make it do that, just be really hard to do. remember too, if you have 850 hp at the wheels thats 1000 crank hp if you use roughly 15% drivetrain loss. so that makes 1000hp sound that much easier to attain

1. With the right amount of money anything is possible
2. At 4am, a thread idea that seems "like a pretty cool idea" actually still isn't

The stroke would become the enemy not allowing you to rev high. But 1000hp is tottally possible. Brent Rau(spelling?) probably has around 1300 out of a 2.2 I believe

Actually 1000 HP (crank) is my goal for my S14.5 drag car. I feel its real good possibility that it will happen. So far out of a stock motor KA DE with only forged pistons, ARP bolts in the stock rods, ARP head and main studs, and a cometic gasket, I have made 502 WHP. Using the comon 15% drive line loss, this is almost 600 crank HP. We made these numbers at 25.5 psi. Keep in mind that this is with stock NA cams, stock head, stock intake manifold, stock TB, stock ignition, etc. I stopped at 502 WHP because the clutch was slipping at peak TQ and the stock ignition couldnt light the fire anymore even with an .025" gap. I have a clutch on the way and an MSD SCI and Blaster II coil waiting at the shop. We will test this up to 30 psi (limit of the MAP sensor we are using with the AEM EMS) and see what it can make almost stock. I will then try out the new Crower Turbo cams and the racing intake manifold I built and 3" TB. I am pretty sure there is another 100 WHP left in this motor.
The motor I am building for my car is BUILT. Forged rods, Pistons, knife edged crank, fully fully balanced, nitride coatings, shot peening, cryo treating, o-ringed block, oversize head studs, fully race ported heads, custom racing cams, liquid intercooler, much bigger IC piping, full T4 turbo and I will be running boost in the 40+ psi range and a direct port nitrous setup. I am looking for 650 RWHP thru an AT trans on low boost only and around 800 RWHP on high boost with some nitrous.
My goals for the car are to compete and dominate the Turbo 4 class in Nopi NDRA. I am shooting for mid 9 sec quaters to start and eventually drop into the mid 8 sec range. I am also shooting to be the first T4 car in the 8s.

I was running 11.70's to 11.20's last year with a full stock(never been opened) sr20det in a s13 chassis at 350-400whp. So why does it take 550 whp to run only 11's?
The 1/4 mile pass in my sig was at or around 360-375 whp at the first of this year before the motor was taken out and the new one put in.

hmmmm if a civic can get to 700hp+ ; why can't a ka24?
Back in 2001 I saw a 4000HP NHRA integra. it was a 7liter 4cyl, and was making 1000HP per cylinder.
Note Ivan is doing that on a T4. there are other larger turbos that can be used to make more power, but then again big horsepower like 1000HP would be looking into a stroker kit or other fabbed parts. besides the original poster you have gone to www.ka-t.org those guys are making big power KA-Ts. save the bandwidth and use www.google.com and the search button on this and other forums.

I made 638 whp with a T3-T4. Thats about 750 crank HP. My car is full T4 and will make 1000 crank HP.

it doesnt. they ran it at about 370-400 rwhp and made a 11.7 pass on never been opened KA.

That's pretty good numbers. Had the motor been rebuilt with factory parts?? If not what was the milage, if you know?

with all this jazz about cramming that kind of power into a 4 banger.... why not put the precision building and forced induction cash into a blueprinted built v8.... 1000hp a stepping stone in that world.

Ivan was seeing how much the KA could put out with good tuning. The engine was not rebuilt but ~112,000 miles unopened.
yeah i think i remember that
tuning a stock KA for power lol...just pushing it till it blew

1000hp 4 banger is very doable... DSM shepard look at that car... but i have never seen a sr or ka with more than 800 whp which is still insane but i wish i saw more 800 and a few 1000hp, just to say 1000hp is possible...
