I went to a friends house to pull of brakes/rear hubs off of their 300zx. I got all the rotors and calipers off fine, but I was unable to get the rear hub to come off along with the ebrake assembly.

I removed the rear axle nut and expected the hub to slide off but no luck. I figured that I would have to remove the 4 bolts behind the hub, but the drive shaft was in the way. The shaft was impossible to remove since the brakes were now gone, the ebrake was not functioning, and the transmission was out. We tried to drop the entire subframe, but the 15 year old nuts wouldnt budge. Even with PB. Once I get the hubs off, will the ebrake assembly slide off easily?

Also I was unable to remove the ebrake cables, I couldnt figure out how to loosen them from where the two lines come into one, and after that I was unsure how to remove them from where they go through the subframe. Also for the front calipers, the two hard lines that come out from the calipers kinked and broke. Can I pick up replacements at a local parts store? Thanks

Wow had some problems did you.

Ok I pulled a set of ebrake/spindles off today. First take the 36mm nut off. And impact gun works wonders for this. If you don't have one use a 18" or larger breaker bar. Then leave the nut on just a bit to the end of the axle won't mushroom when you smack the shit out of it. Just keep hitting (with a 8lb minislege or larger) and it will eventually come out. The rest is pretty easy. Just unbolt stuff.

On the ebrake lines there is a 10mm brackes on the front of the subframe you have to unbolt and then I believe a 12mm bracket on up at the end of the outer sheathing. Once you get thise done you should be able to take the two cables loose from the metal plate. On the one I did it was a pain so I just bent the metal plate until they came out. Then feed the ebrake cables out through the hole in the subframe where they go through.

I got the axle nut off with a breaker bar and damn busted my knees in the process.

I was so pissed I took one look at the 2 to 1 connection for the ebrake cables and jiggled it for a bit, and gave up. I figured that the line would be too big to pass through the holes in the subframe-even though now I know they would have fit. I was contemplating cutting the ebrake line where it had come to one line, but do to the lack of tools (strangers garage) and stil the inability to pass the wires through the subframe holes, I gave up.

I was working for a total of 5 hours and only managed to get the calipers/rotors and MC.

As far as the differential, I have removed them before from subframes, but could not get any of the axle shaft nuts to budge, perhaps because the subframe was still bolted to the car making the angles rather awkward.

However I am still wondering about the metal lines that connect the caliper to the rubber brake lines-I managed to break both of them on the fronts. Are these parts available at a normal parts store?

Also I was unable to unbolt the chassis hardline from the rear rubber brake line on one side, so i just broke it by twisting the caliper. But now I have that fitting stuck very nicely in the rubber line. Any tips on removal?
