Take a little air pressure out of the rear tires, and if you have a sub, take that out too. You're going to need all of the help that you can get. GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm rooting for you!!! http://www.auburnextremeracing.org/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

Just cause its a automatic doesnt mean its going to be slow... Put a intake on real quiick(steal one off a honda if need be) and pull your head light out(eewww more air). Just tell him it broke... then you just might win.

"With a 200-cc gain in displacement, a longer stroke adds some valuable power: An increase to 231 bhp, up from 193, is achieved by blending several qualities that improves the cars efficiency. More than half the power increase is achieved by stream-lining the car's intake-tract. Its like the car never runs out of breath. New, aggressive cams account for another couple more ponies, but, once again, its not what they do, its how they make what they do work with everything else. Though horsepower is a big prize here, a significant increase in torque doesn't go unnoticed. More than the increase, its availability is superb. The torque is everywhere. From a warm up idle to a 6500-rpm stomp, you'll never need more torque. Translation: who needs to downshift for more power, its already there. A manual tranny in the coupe will get you to 60 mph in about 6.4 seconds, while BMW claims the automatic sedan or convertible will be there in about another second. Also noticeable is the increase in driver forgiveness. Not only is the car more powerful, it is also easier to drive. A lighter steering and larger brake rotors prove for a ride that is quite possibly second-to-none."

i think he's got about .3-.5 (bein nice) on u from 0-60, and i'm pretty sure even more in the 1/4 because of their broader power band. plus he's got an auto so less chance for error shifting... go try though because its always MUCH more fun that way , get a great launch and let us know how it goes!

EDIT: i found more times and its more like 7.0 for 0-60 for the auto... looks like u'll be seein some tail lights, go for it though cause theres always a chance...he'll blow a tire

You'll lose. BMW hp and torque ratings tend to be very conservative.

There is not way your gonna beat a 3.0 inline six, especially one that has a linear torque curve and RWD as well.

If your friend drives like the church lady you just may win....

BMW's are THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE

absolutely no manufacturer blends performance and comfort so perfectly than BMW. you will not win. he has about 70 more hp than you, and is probably 300lbs heavier. BMW's rip, period. I want an E36 328is so bad.

Practice shifting real quick to eliminate errors (you have to shift through at least 3 gears 0-60) and get good launches.
Toss out any extra weight like your jack, spare tire, etc.
Add a few cans of octane boost to your gas tank, and keep the tank under 1/8 full to minimize weight. I would keep your airpressure at 30 PSI because when you under inflate, most of the pressure is on the edges of the tires, and to evenly applied across the tire surface.
Mechanically, advance the timing, and toss out the Y tube to the air cleaner intake. Don't run the A/C of course.
