I just wanna know what do u guys think...
injen, AEM, hotshot, HKS... ?

maybe you should go back to hondatech.com or fastcougar.com. they have EXTENSIVE research on intakes due to their general lack of performance ambition.
you could research a FILTER or you can spend that time learning something useful like wheel offsets...

Stock airbox with K&N filter is probably better than most aftermarket intakes. Still a waste though. You could get a few hp MAYBE. You have a naturally aspirated motor so I don't know what you're expecting but hopefully not much.
Here comes the:
"My KA pulled so much harder after i got my intake..."
Bullshit. Wishful thinking.

Actually air intakes offer a good bang for the buck performance wise when coupled with other things, like exhaust, cams, etc.
I know the FWD SR20DE guys rave about a certain CAI...

^^^ Just a cone filtler is probably no better than an airbox, but a full intake is worth ~5rwhp...on a KA with other supporting mods.
On a stock motor, probably not worth as much...
See here (Injen pipe added to HS header, N1 exhaust, JWT cams + ECU):

But the best gains can be found with a custom setup, like so:

dude the ka in my SE pulled so much better after my intake went on. bear in mind a 75 shot went on with the intake as well but thats a story for a different form of power adder.

the best intakes are the ones that put air into a turbo

the aem and injen unit are good. aem's a lot cheaper.

Don't waste your money ... just cut a hole or drill a bunch of holes in the bottom of your air box

I have an injen intake w/ k&n filter and it had some power in there. SOME.
Then tried it with HKS Filter, more high end but less low end. Meh
Now i switched but to the regular intake box BUT with the injen intake full tube still attached! hahaha works great. Just like stock. I cant tell if there is more power or not. Just felt like trying it one day and left it like that.
STOCK is where its at.

how about the hotshot intake?
nissantuner22

I recall hearing good things about the hotshot intake. SR20DEforum.com may have some dyno sheets of one somewhere, might wanna go look for it.

yes, i have also try that before, but is the injen pipe perfect fit on the air box? i think u have done a little bit modification on it, right?

^ im running the injen... it fits fine, although the hood insulation rubs on it a little... i cut some of the hoses to fit to my liking as well... you shouldn't have any trouble at all with it if you decide thats what you want.

air dryer ducting cut open the intercooler hole and route it to your air box.

yeah hella garage SPL on that bitch. Well as you know the tube from the injen intake does not even come close so i ended up doing it ghetto style and used the red silicone fittings and kind of fitted them together and then put the clamps over them just enough to close any air that can leak through.
The MAF is directly connected but the chrome extension peice is gone since it didnt work. So it just goes straight to the stock air box. It looks really like kinda of a " Huhh??? " situation but hey it works. Ill take a pic maybe tonight and post it on here.

Dynos have actually proven eBay intakes to be the most effeceint in adding power/tq on the KA24DE engine...
Somebody had to say it:keke:

HAHA great you thinking i'm knocking on ka's because i said an intake won't do shit. Yeah buy an SR or dont even try to get power. What the fuck ever. I never said that or implied its no use to get power out of the ka. You can get power out of the ka but $200 for 5 whp is fucking retarded. Goddamn I love being a newb.
RBS14
01-27-2005, 04:37 PM
$200 for 5hp is retarded yet $2500 for 50 isn't?
200/5 = $40/hp
2500/50 = $50/hp
And this is assuming you only pick up 5hp from an intake and I've seen multiple dynos where people picked up near 10.
infinitexsound
01-27-2005, 07:38 PM
its all in ppls budget... not everyone can shell out 2500 dollars and have that sr swap. some others accumilate parts to build a ka-t.. others well they're just bloody out rich and place that srswap on a cc.. oh well intake or not it doesnt matter to me... suspension brakes and wheels should be first then any power added...just my opinion..

That 50 hp is just the baseline and then you build on that. If thats too much turbo a ka. Save your money. Ive seen turbo ka's set up for around 1000 bucks. Then you have some power. Think about it. Why get intake at all? For more power right? So save up, have patience and get 100 more to the wheels. Because Ive never felt the 5 hp difference on any friends car after they got intake.
Doesnt matter, if you have a low budget i'd buy other stuff first. Speed costs (crazy cliche guy).
You want power cheap then get nitrous. Seriously.
RBS14
01-27-2005, 09:10 PM
All I'm saying is that turbo isn't the only option for our cars. KA's actually make good N/A power when done right. I guess I should be a Hachi guy, loving N/A and all, but I hate those damn things. haha.
Besides, the best intake for a ka24de is......

I'll admit, Russ' intake was the inspiration for my setup...but mine was much beter engineered and made...unlike his PVC tubing and sock filter!
:D
Seriously, here's an old pic of Russ' setup I had saved on the HD:

And I made mine from 3" mandrel bends, cut and welded by yours truly.

Can you make one for me? :D
the onyl way you will notice a difference is if your current filter is old and dirty...
just get a maf adapter and through a good K&N cone on there...

awww i got avatar jacked which i made to resemble my own car... *cries*
anyways.. id stay away from those lil 3' intake filter adapters, it actually made my car bog since its not a smooth air flow path.

hey did you just pick up the already made mandrel bent pipe at autozone or something? and then just cut and weld?
Also, did you get a differnt shaped upper rad hose, mine seems a lil different.
Mine looks more like russ', i guess
But, and i know you guys will love this, mine is crush bent, not mandrel. .i wand to make a whole new setup here soon as i have the time.
