how can u paint your rims?

i've seen 'em done, but it's not glossy...  it's already hard enough to find the right offset for my 114.3x4 rims, and they don't come in gun metal!!! i want gun metal damn it

This is what me and a friend did to his rims:

1. Spray water.
2. Degrease.
3. Clean with soap and water, scrub like crazy
4. Wipe dry
5. Get a close to gun metal paint from the paint store.
6. Put the paint into the bottle with the air compressor attached.
7. Spary
8. Let dry
9. You got gun metal rims.
10.Go flossin'

if you're looking for a cheap way to do it, which i'm guessing you are, try this. sand down wheel, don't have to take all the paint/finish off, just enough to give new paint something to stick to. get whatever the hell color you want in an aerosol can, give it a good 3 layers. then get clearcoat in a can and spray it. then get 2000 grit sandpaper, go over entire wheel lightly. then get some buffing compound and a machine buffer if you have one, and restore the finish. it shouldn't turn out too bad. my friend did it to the mirrors on his winter beater crx and it turned out pretty nice.

one thing people here forgot to mention is you have to get high temp paint. the heat from the brakes will surely warp the paint job if not. Pep boys has them for $10/can. .75 can per wheel. you do the math.
you should do at least 2 coats, but no &nbsp;more than 3... unless you apply very very thinly. use your own discretion. If you remember seeing my car at Griffith Park, the black TE37's, I have 2 coats on mine. be sure to sandpaper, or better yet, sandblast all the crap off the wheels before painting.

Remember to spray from a good distance (2 feet or so?). It will take more paint, but it helps prevent drips and gives a more even coat.
