Raced one of these tonight, and man, it suprised me! We were kinda picking at each other through traffic, not getting too crazy. Then, we reach an area where noone was around and we were off. Starting at 70 I got a little jump on him, then he start slooowly creeping up on me. When I had to shift to 5th he went by me. Then, there was a very slight turn ahead, and he got scared I guess and hit the brakes. But not me, I easily took it at 115mph .(I travel that road every day so I knew it was cool). Then he never caught me again until mine cut off, then I slowed down and he passed. I gave him a thumbs up for the nice car, and he turned around. What do you guys think of this car. I thought it was pretty damn sweet, looks great, and that 2.7L V6 sounded pretty good.

I think that did some really good stuff with the looks, and theyu changed the drive train. its now part of the RWD family

Yes, it is FWD with [email protected] and [email protected] and a 6 speed. Pretty impressive for a Hyundia.

Hyundai's are just moving on up to the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky....They finally gotta piece of the pie.

Yeah, sorry about that. I could've swore I had read somewhere they where changing to rwd. I did a search and found a picture of the transversly mounted engine sitting in the engine bay.

I like the new look of the tib, but think that with a 2.7l 6 cyl it should be putting out a bit more power. Also, since the car remains FF I lose a little bit for it. I really like the way it looks though. Very nice.

I told pepz to watch out for it but nobody believed me that Hyundai was improving there cars. Specially the tibby. Like I've said before, they had to make a car that was affordable, reliable, and somewhat appealing in order to get started. Now that they have a small ownership base and teh best warranty out right now, they are able to start making cars a little more ecxiting and therefore slightly more expensive then before( still very well priced though) Honda di the same thing when they first came to America.

My friend has one, just got it two months ago. It's nothing like his 96' Se-r w/ a sr20det; but he likes it for a daily driver. He's had a couple good races even though we haven't had a run yet......They have nice lat support on those seats nice little stock racings seats. I still make fun of him. I wouldnt buy it but for the warranty and price it's an okay car.

Yeah whenever I first saw a Hyundia when they first came out, I actually thought they were a spin-off of Honda.
Honda~Hyundia, kinda sounds the same. I wonder what their car will be like a few years from now.

you took the turn at 115? did you disable the rev limiter? cause i always hit mine at 111. Anyways the new Tib's look really nice but i heard they have no handles. too bad they are ff.

GRM said it was too porky to transition for autox (that big ass motor up front), but that it should drive very nice on a road course/highway. Motor is out of the Santa Fe and they said they couldn't get it to grip b/c of the torque.

Otherwise, I think it's probably the best looking small coupe out there right now. If you squint, it's a Ferrari (seriously! ). Gee - new Eclipse, Acura Paseo (err, that's an RSX?. ), soon to be discontinued Honda Prelude, Nissan... umm... no entry, or something from Detroit? Hands down.
*edit* grammatically challenged this a.m.

The same engineer that designed the looks of Ferrari's also designed the new Tiburon. I like its looks but the headlights are still kinda weird. I cant wait to see someone actually modify one of these the right way. They would be pretty cool cars, and for the price, they kickass IMHO.

I thought it was 170hp, maybe I am wrong. Basically, they took the motor out of the Sante Fe and modified it to fit the Tiburon.

If Hyundai was really on the ball, they should have taken the awd system from the Sante Fe and make it fit the Tiburon. Do a little factory tuning and you could have a 200hp awd sport coupe. One caveat is that the new Tiburons are kinda heavy from what I read. Nice interior/exterior tho.

If you want to get technical. According to their website, it has 181 hp in V6 form

according to the stock tach, mine's at 120mph. so are all the other S14's that I know of.
if you wanna go faster, just get bigger tires.

i think theyre good cars just need a capable tuner to get them going fast. hell with 2.7L and a v6... you could do wonders. they have sloppy handling and the 6speed is kinda vague but they have a good engine even if its underpowered. the AWD idea would have been good but i bet it would be hella heavy after that. they definatly got a plan and it seems to be going well

But there's a little thing called a speed limiter, it cuts of the fuel to the engine to bring it back down to idle once you get to a certain point. Most seem to be different than others, I have taken mine to 115 w/o hitting it, but won't go faster because I heard it's hella scary to hit the thing. Bigger tires will trick it, but not by much.

It's known as the Tuscani overseas, has some pretty cool badges. My friend swapped his Hyundai badges for the Tuscani one, people dont even know what it is....I laugh cause I know it's nothing but a baleuca whale(sp?) looking Tiburon.
