Tell him you got a Tornado for your intake and now not only did you net 75 extra WHP, but your mileage is up to 89m/g.

I'm gonna guess it's one of those eletric superchargers. :smash: If it is and he actually installs it and gets it running....expect to be getting a phone call from him soon b/c he'll be stranded somewhere with a dead battery b/c those things take a ton of juice. All for 5 hp that can't be on all the time....w00t :blah:

Or its one of those Tornado things, which in case you might as well steal the money from him cuz they don't do anything.

did anyone cave in and just try one for shits and giggles?

"electric superchargers" do give a slight gain (usually less than 5 hp) but can only be used at WOT. They do have better versions (i've seen one on a 6g73 make a true 7psi of boost) but they are similar to nitrous in the fact that they can only be used at WOT, and you have to set up a special fuel system for them. In a word, ghey.

Tornados do make you get better gas mileage though =)
You just lose more power

If you were responding to me, that's not what I'm talkin about. I'm talkin about making a decent amount of boost. If you look up Thomas Knight electric supercharger, you might get suprised. They cost around 1200, for a dodge avenger (6g73 mitsu v6) and make 12 psi in less than one sec. (to be used at WOT) If you know about electronics, you know the stock alternator could never power any decent flowing fan. The Thomas Kinght stuff, use a battery bank (3 batts, smaller than normal car batteries though) for use in 15 sec burst. You should think of it as nitrous.

Please don't take this as me "stickin up" for electric superchargers or whatever. I just like for people to be informed about stuff. Twitchy seemed like he wants to know what they can actually do, so I'm tellin ya.

In short, electric superchargers can ultimately be used as nitrous, that you don't have to refill.

oh, and as far as weight, this is what his website says

Our ESCâ„¢ weighs only 42 lb. At just 13 lbs each, a bank with four Odyssey 680 batteries adds another 52 lbs. That's 94 lb in total. In comparison, a full turbo kit can easily weigh 90-100lb, while most belt-driven superchargers weigh 70 lbs. As you can see, this "extra weight" is in the same range as any other aftermarket system. Plus, no parasitic loss means greater horsepower, so our ESCâ„¢ more than makes up for the difference.

again, just showin people the facts, cause most people don't know that there are serious electric superchargers.

wow... thanks alot
I was simply wondering because I know that it has to do SOMETHING...
I'm just trying to get the facts so I can tell him that his waste of money will infact be worthless... If I can't ask questions like that on these forums then what is a public forum... Why flame me I'm not even trying to argue I was just wondering about something I heard and figured I'd ask some knoledgable people....
Thank you to everyone that replied

I know, but mods are people too, I don't think he's going to be offended by my sorry excuse for a "mouth off"...
I donno, if he gets extremely pissed that I disagree in that there is a reason for flaming me then whatever... Everyone has to learn somewhere, you know...
I was just asking about this "supercharger". No point in flaming...
Peace

I have no problem with your response (before or after your edit).
I was just sharing my feelings on young, inexperienced people owning and attempting to work on cars that I like. That, and I think 75%+ of high school kids are idiots. There's hope that you're in that <25%, but I'm not holding my breath.
For what it's worth to you, I checked out your other posts before I wrote mine. You've been asking very newbish questions, and convey a general lack of knowledge in the field of cars and maintenance thereof. I'm not knocking you - we all have to start somewhere. It's more a matter of.. learning from researching and trying things out and learning to not talk about what you don't know as though you do.
