Screw that thing man.
I went 2 years ago and it was one of the greatest experiences I've had. Had I not gone to the show, I'd not be willing to sell my 240 for an IS300. grrr.
In all seriousness these shows rule.
Everything is hands on, the road courses are actually quite fun to drive (they have obstacles like emergency lane changes, debris you're forced to hit, etc) GM puts the show on, but when I went, I drove several Lexus'/Toyota (my god the flagship lexus is jaw droppingly nice), Nissans, the Z06 (I refuse to group that car with things like the Impala or anything badged Buick), and a few others that escape me.
Box lunches were FREE. Water/soda was widely available at every driving station. Even the portable bathrooms were amazing. An outdoor event like that, you expect what? PortaPotties! their version of the portapottie was a full sized trailer, complete with country home interior decor! Yay for running hot & cold water, and feau marble countertops, hehee. Best of all, it's an event setup for you to experience the cars, not be pressured by sales people. In fact, the only sales pitch I got was from a Hyundai salesman who was there as a guest, same as me... I swear he wanted nothing more than to sell Nissans, he wouldn't shut up about the (then) new Altima 3.5SE. Funny stuff.
You socal people should go, I dunno if it still is, but when I went, it was totally FREE. I even got a bunch of stickers/flyers/pamphlets, and a T-Shirt at the end, totally worth spending the day at! :)

along those lines, make sure you do no burnouts or chirps I watched 4 ppl get ejected from the event when I went. Most notable was one kid and his dad who'd JUST gotten there, drove the impala SS first, did a small burnout at the start, when they got the then end of the lap they both had their braclets cut off and were escorted out, despite the fact that the dad wasn't driving and the kid looked well over 18. The poor dad didn't get to drive anything.
This is a FREE event where everyone walks away smiling. Please don't ruin it for everyone. People abusing the cars, I was told by event staff, was the only negative of the show. When I was talking to one of the station managers, he said by 2pm they'd lost 3 cars due to stupid people, one of which I had the pleasure of driving (tho broken at some point before I got to it), Saab 9-3 with seized turbo = 70whp heh.
cliff notes:
GM went up several notches in my book for this great event, lets all give them a reason to continue holding them by not acting 16.

hey who was driving the G35 that drifted into the curb ?????

their was a g35??? damn I missed it. out of all the cars I drove I really liked the Civic Si and the C6, damn that C6 is soo nice. I must of tapped the brakes only like 2 or 3 times around the cones
the MBZ 320 wasn't as impressive as I thought it wold be, niether was the BMW 7series. Escalades suck ass and see now that its just an image thing and the hummer is no different "offroad" then my 93 4Runner, the H2 just has more interior room.
Overall I had fun and am tempted to try and sign up for tomorrow or next week in Irvine

yeah I drove the GTO and wasn't impressed either. I sounded nice though but the pickup wasn't that great. It felt about the same as my Titan, or maybe I was just expecting too much. Still very comfy interior.
Thats what most of the cars had going for them, the interior. That civic Si's seats fit me very well, loved them
whens the bmw event? link?
