I went to my local autozne asking to get some front Z32 brake calipers (30 mm aluminum). However, there are ARI and Cardone calipers (and also Fenco?). I didn't know at the time that they are just different companies that remanufacture Z32 calipers but the Cardone (80.99 each) are out of stock. The ARI (63.99 each) are in stock. Does anyone know the differences/if it really matters? Anyone have any input?
I searched but the closest thing i got was this:
they are all remanufactured. meaning they have just been rebuilt by some manufaturer, like a1 Cardone or AC Delco. but no mater where or who reman'd them they're all nissan calipers
Thanks,
Chris

They are privately remanufactured oem stock calipers. I bought one for my z when it seized. I always wondered why people spend $250+ on used ones for their 240's when they can get remanufactured ones for half the cost. Any one else have an explaination?

I think that everyone like the idea of having something JDM or that was actually used from a z32/silvia/skyline. In my expierience i have had no problems with a remanufactured caliper from any of these companies. I work at a auto store and I use reman delco calipers. I've sold them to lots of my friends in the area, no one had complaints. These companies have been remanufacturing for a long time, and all they do is put in the new seals and such, maybe new pistons if it needs. All these aftermarket companies do good work, so i dont see any reason not to use them for the price.

those prices DONT include core
Core is like 40bux
But you can return your S13/S14 calipers and they won't know the difference.

Exactly. I gave the dude at the counter the stockers in the box the Zs came in, he didn't even open the box and look.
I could've just put rocks in there and ran out with my money.
I have the ARI calipers, they are fine. They're just stock calipers that are rebuilt.

so all u need is to buy the calipers and the rotors and the 2 front 300zx lines to make it work? is the install easy?

called autozone again...Sir is right...does not include core charge (core charge is another 50 bucks) so it'd run 63 x 2 + 50 x 2 = 226. Then minus 50 each caliper once you return core....
crazy:
you'd need all that + pads and a can of brake fluid...install can be found @ http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm
I have talked and riden in a couple of 240s with this swap I myself dont see the sense in it. They wont slow your car down any better and as a matter of fact it takes longer too stop. My freind showed me the brake dyno with this swap and it was worse then stock with the 300z master cylinder so I ask why does everyone still want this?

There is a simple reason why many choose to do this, you can figure it out by sifting through all of the "silvia conversion", "where to buy an sr", "how about this wing", "how do I drift my car", or "how can I carbonize my entire car like in the games" threads (sarcasm is the tone here).
Seriously, you can get some dimpled/slotted rotors from brembo if you have to, hawk pads or equivalent high performance pads, SS Brake lines, and some DOT 4 fluid after flushing the system if you want to maintain the original pedal feel with increased performance unless you will be drag racing or some type of heavy road race type of activity where constant application is not giving the system enough time to cool down between usage.
These are general suggestions to retaining a closer to oem brake setup then that of a swap.

Yeah, my car with stock calipers, cross drilled rotors F&R, stock lines, axxis ultimate pads, and ate superblue fluid stops better than my friends 240 with 300zx fronts, metal lines, axxis metalmasters, and stock rears. On the other hand my 300zx stopped way better than my 240 with abs, hawk pads, cross drilled rotors, super blue fluid, metal lines, and it had way less brake fade at above 100mph.

actually set up right the 26mm or 30mm 4 piston calipers will give you more stopping power. Provided you use the brake master cylinder that was made to go along with them. This is common mistake a lot of people make on the upgrade. You can either use the 15/16 th master out of the S12 V6 aka 200sx or get yourself a 300zx master cylinder. If you have more horsepower than stock it makes since to upgrage your brakes for more stopping power. Whats dumb is the guys with stock engines that do the brake upgrade. In Japan the 180sx and the Silvia had larger single piston calipers than the their american couterparts on the SR20det models. As did the S14 Silvia in Japan 225 hp engine 26mm 4 piston steel caliper. Now if the manufacturer is putting larger brakes on cars with more horsepower it would make sense for us to do it.
Its all about using your head when it comes to upgrades. You have a stock engine don't bother with a brake upgrade. You have more horsepower than stock due to turbo or sr than upgrade your brakes plain and simple.
thats all folks!!!

You're a post whore and a dumbass. Being able to stop better is always a good thing. Brake fade sucks.

make sure to pay for the calipers cash at autozone so when u return the stock 240 calipers and they happen to check there's no paper trail.

/\ smart guy.. I think everyone should upgrade if they need to replace their caliper. No reason not to upgrade, its soo cheap.
