My Sr will not start anymore. I went to start my car today and it turned on for about 5 secs then it died. Then it will not start again. All the lights work and radio and sounds work but the engine does not make any noise in trying to start. What can be the problem? Well it is rain hard here.. could it be the rain? Anyways thanks for inputs.

it could be the alternator if it doesnt crank at all. did any of the rain get on the engine bay?

starter or ignition fuses and wiriing for both... check both. Im sure if the motor hydrolocked it would make some sort of noise.

Is it cranking? Check spark and fuel if it is cranking and then go from there.

but it the engine does not any noise in trying to start

wtf does this mean. i assume you're saying it's not turning over when you turn the ignition switch. well...it started for 5 seconds then died. count out the battery. could be the alternator. turn your dome light on..see if it dims when you try to crank the car. If it does dim, you dont have enough juice going to the starter. check the terminals on your battery. I've had problems where the stereo still worked but the terminals didnt have enough contact to turn the starter. The first obvious thing to do would be try to jump start it. if it starts then dies again it's your alternator

Hmm I think I will try that. But I did try it again yesterday and it started to go heywire! My check engine light, seat belt light, hand brake light, and others started to flicker on my dash. I was like :ugh: Then I can hear weird buzzing sounds from somewhere. I never hear that be. well I do plan have it checked out today. I just want my car to work right

as stated above, it is probably ur alternator or starter.......
try using jumper cables, hook them up to another car, see if it starts then....
if it is a real S15 motor with new parts, the starter and alternator should last long than this but who knows... try changing the batter too

See if you can jump start it. Since it seems like your lights and radio turned on, it could be ur starter.

Erratic flickering lights in the dash could be that the ECU isn't getting a proper connection. Having the ECU plug partially in can cause all sorts of strange problems.

SRs have a tendency to be lil b*tches with low voltage. Make sure your getting atleast 11v or the car wont even try to crank over.

ok I have fixed the problem. It was a bad wire that goes to the ignition switch. Also the fuse was not very good. So was it. Thanks for you input every one.
