Somebody please convince me not to trade my S13 for a Toyota ST165 (Turbo, AWD Celica).

I dont have much done to my S13 yet (AGX's + Sportlines, AEM Short Ram), but I'm really thinking about making the trade.

Help me stick with Nissan!!

All Trac-s are nice. Lots of potential with the 3SGTE. But that is only if you're into them.

Wouldn't it be hard to find parts for it? How many Celica All-Tracs even made it into the U.S.?

At least with an S13, you go to the junkyard and find anything you want, or you swipe it off a 3z, j30, s14, etc.

Can you do that to a Celica? I don't believe any other Toyota has awd. Do MR2 Turbo parts fit on the car?

I think they are pretty cool, made a dent in rally history. Do research on the celica forums. If there are more positives then negatives, then go for it. My bro jumped into a project three years ago. Got a galant and an evo III motor for it, before he new anything about mitsu's. after a 1000miles of driving he went through two trannies after that he just let it collect dust in the garage for 2 years untill he sold it for a 89 240 and a rb20. Now he has been happier then ever. Alltac's are very similar to the vr4 gallants, so just make sure their are not too many downsides, and end up with a money pit. Go for it, their cool cars, just learn about them first. :)

Hmmmm Celica has a 3SGTE and the MR2 has a 3SGTE.

Parts are definately out there. It IS a Celica, with a 3SGTE and an extra set of axles. I don't think you'll have to climb over a mountain just for parts.

All-Tracs are very nice cars. Ive worked on a guys here, its a nasty nasty car. t3/t04. the car pulled like a beast. I personally would keep the S13, This guy has gone through quite a few built trannys from TRD.

But hell, if ya got the chance to do it. then do it. IF ya dont like it, sell it. you can make a pretty penny on it if its in good condition.

The rounder, newer (pre-bug eyes) All-Trac was never here, right? The one in the picture must have been a modified lower model, grey import, or something..

I thought we only got the boxier generation?

What's so great about the Galant VR-4? It's just an Eclipse powerplant in a fugly Galant shell...

As mentioned, I did realize it came with the 3sGTE, but I figured being that the MR2 was a '91-'95 model and the All-trac was...'88? there may have been differences in generations, not to mention the drivetrain layout and engine location.

if your talking about the one on craigs, it's an '88. the fast back-like body. doesn't make sense because the 3s-gte wasn't around then. i dunno, i could be wrong. i say trade it, 240s are a dime a dozen in cali, but how often do you come across all-tracs? "it's an amazing machine" lol

Well how about this, your in california and this is a legal way to have a turbo motor. It is faster than yours stock 240sx, will give you more confidence driving, and handles better than your stock car. It rains a lot in the NW right? Now you can floor it anytime and not worry.

In the US, we got the ST165 (boxy style) and ST185 (rounded, popup headlight style), both fastbacks only even though they had JDM coupes. They all had the 3S-GTE, mostly identical to the MR2s of the same year (though the Celica All-Trac Turbo got the 3S-GTE first).

US models didn't get all the crazy scoops and big mouth fascias like the JDM cars, though, they just had slightly deeper grilles and bigger wheels to distinguish them.

They are excellent cars, but they are expensive to fix. They are also heavy, over 3000lb.

Oh yeah, and there was another AWD Toyota back then, the Camry All-Trac. It had a 3S-FE :p Nothing really swaps between them.

My friend has a ST185 that looks just like that. The metalic grey is kick ass when she washes it. They are big in the Aussie market so, a lot of aftermarket support from there.

I have seen several ST185 All-Tracs in San Francisco, bone stock to boot. One was the cherry red colour, the other was baby blue.

I have also seen several at shows and such.

They do exist, but are incredibly rare.

Trade your stock-ass 240 for the All-Trac and just buy another 240, who cares. Omar is right, you can always get another 240, but good luck tryign to find a All-Trac.

I've seen them before. Bao over at Evolution used to own one before the AE86.

It was the only AWD turbo Celica sold in the US... it is not nearly as durable than the later GT-Four models which never made it to the US.

Incorrect, ask the Canadians. The 3S-GTE will swap into a 3S-FE powered Camry. Few were successfuly done, but I've seen it. 3SGTE out of an MR2, turn it around, drop it in with a custom bell housing and yada yada yada...
