Hey people, I was just curious...'cause I'm from Jersey and I just bought a used 96 240sx. I love it; It's exactly what I wanted...but then I go to insure it and start shopping around...$4600, $4800, $4850...what the hell, this isn't a fucking luxury car! I have to admit though, I have 6 points so that's my bad...but still...$5000! This will be the end of me...

Yah its bad... I'm gonna be 17 next month and luckily my parents are putting me under their insurance and are offering to pay 50% (or so rumor has it) for full coverage... I think the estimate was somewhere in the $2500-$3000 range for my 94.

I'm 21, live in KC and it's $1600/year for me at full coverage. Only one minor wreck (fender bender) and no tickets though. Oh, and I drive a '92.

Danm, sorry about that, those insurance rates are kinda steep. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
I'm 18, male, new driver (Aug '01), and my car is a 95 SE with a insurance rate of $1300 for 6 months (full coverage).
I thought I had it bad <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> my car was only $3700 when I got it. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/satisfied.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':satisfied:'>

I live on long island and pay 3500 a year basic liability for my 1990 shitbox. I hope this makes you feel a little better. The next best quote was 4 g's. Car insurance is just a big scam to get the rich richer. Grrr dont get me started. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Yeah, Insurance is damn high for anyone under 25...
For a car that costs 100a month canadian (ie Used 89 Civic Hatchback.) ur looking at around 450 a month insurance, canadian.
lol, on a car like that?
5000 sounds like a lot...but the 6 demerits might be why...
what were they from?

I pay like 170 a month or my mom does for me on my 97,everything is in her name and that is to keep cost down.I have a six point violation coming soon so i dont know how high i will go but my friend only went up 200.00 every six months so that is like 35.00 rounded off every month extra.i am only 19 and a new driver since like last year in may almost a year.I also took that defensive driveing class and he has not i also have full coverage.

I was supposed to be paying $5k/yr for my 240. I, uh, didn't. But if I had insurance (in NJ), yup, that's what it would've cost me too.
