i decided to give up on the KA-T project, but of course i will STILL be making manifolds for the engine, but too many bad dyno charts i dont like coming from KAs. decided to go with SR now
been browsing around for a while now checking sites to what has the lesser priced engines.
phase
jspec
g-deminsion
h-t
touge
etc etc.

most sites only sell clips...clips are way too epxenisve. i know the downside to having a clip vs motorset is, you get everything undamaged like oilpan etc etc and you have a good referece where shit is gonna be placed. but then you have all that crap left over a junkyard wont take. of course you can sell it but i dont have time for that crap. hence why i chose motorset.
any place besides heavy-throttle that sells COMPLETE motorsets. in other words, a motorset that has everything i need to make my car running
remember looking for MOTORSETS not CLIPS

I know Jspec has (at least in the past) stripped the clip of all necessary parts for customers.
In essence, you're still paying for the whole shebang, but of course you're getting everything and not having to worry about clip disposal. I'm not sure if Sam still does this or what...

I got my motorset form www.osakajdmmotors.com, but some ppl have bad stories from there. My maf that came with the motorset was faulty, and osaka sent me a new one.

Ill have some good kat dyno charts this spring :)
Anyways jgycustoms is a great place to deal with and has complete motorsets but you will still need to buy a intercooler and e fan.

I got my motorset from phase2 with the prep package and the pre-order discount. I went down and handpicked my motor from the 12 motorsets they had there. If I were you, I'd bring a pickup truck down and bring your motor back to norcal rather than shipping because you can choose your motor.

If you want a motorset I have one, and I'm in milpitas so you don't have to drive 6hrs. I pretty much get my motors from the same place every major distributors get them.

If you guys want motorsets from them, I can scout the engines first... I live close to them... and locally, the engines are much cheaper.

hahahahaha
too many bad kat dynos? That's because of the idiots putting them together, not the engines. People act like ka's are so unpredictable, and they are all different and unreliable. The bottom line is that If one makes good power with a good setup, every other ka would too, with the same setup. It's all about matching the turbine with the engine (which most people have no idea how to do, which yields low hp numbers and more lag than necessary) and making a fuel system that works effectively with the engine AND turbo. Save for cams, every ka is the same. It's not like we are dealing with 10 different types of engines that all react differently to modifications.
The other thing to keep in mind, is that if someone turbo'd an old beatup ka, it's never going to make the kind of power that a ka in good condition would. That is also a big factor that people ignore.
Think about it and you'll get it. If not, you need a new hobby. :)
And if you look, you'll find bad sr dyons too. I've seen plenty of them.

ive gone for SR in my car now, and using my old engine as mock ups for manifolds. so in reality i will be building two engines.

for SoCAL people, i know a small motor importer in stanton that has great prices for motorsets. i got mine from there and have had no problems. good prices too. its a shop i do business with so i got a good deal but i think thier regular prices are like $1500 for redtop, $1600 blacktop. dont quote me on that but check it out. they have everything from SR20DE/T, 4AGE, and a bunch of honda and mitsu motors. if you want more info hit me up on AIM - rps13sh
tell them C.Y. from BEST TINT referred you and they might hook you up *wink

It did... that's why I offered to check em out first.
My first engine came from them, I paid 1400$ cdn for a S13 Blacktop... it lasted 20 000km...
I'm on my second engine now. ;)
i picked up my s13 redtop from Frank over at ardperformance in san diego, guy was really chill, i got everything extra set a coils and a maf, he also sent me a pair of ngk plugs got one with intercooler and piping, runs perfect now. good luck.

Try www.passwordjdm.com
we visited them while we were in cali for JGTC they are cool. Shipping i dunno might be higher, but they had a GOOD condition clip for 2100. Not bad for a redtop front clip. All their stuff looks to be in good shape, as we have been in the back room to personally pick our stuff out. Call and talk to them... they might uninstall it and make a motorset for you.
