Ok so my friends S14 is going under the auto to 5speed swap.. and hes going to need a clutch..
We're debating weither to go with a Exedy stock replacement clutch, or a 240z clutch.. any thoughts on an exedy versus the 240z clutch? Im leaning more towards the 240z clutch since reviews say factory nissan 240z clutch grabs better then a stock 240sx clutch, but if we went with a aftermarket replacement 240z clutch, would it still be the same? Any idea how a Exedy stock replacement clutch would compare to this?

exedy stage 1 (stock replacement i think) is a good choice...mine cost 80 bucks or so.
supposedly good up to the 250ish hp....

I have a stage one as well. It is not spongey and it grabs real well. Not hard to balance out the clutch and good for street driving.

Your saying the Excedy OEM replacement or racing stage 1 organic clutch kit? The oem is abt $111 and the stage 1 racing organic kit is about $330.

What's wrong with bumping a 5 year old thread? He's trying to get information. Why start a new one?

Well, if you aren't going to turbo the KA and just keeping it stock, I see no reason to "upgrade" to a Stage 1 clutch, when the OEM clutch will do you just fine. You'd save yourself a decent chunk of change too.

wait you got the stage 1 organic for 80? because i know the exedy oem replacements go for around that price.

Thats what Im trying to clarify. Theres an Excedy Oem replacement and a stage 1 racing organic clutch kit. I think some have said stage 1 but really mean oem because the price is around $100 or the oem and like $330 for the stage 1 organic. So just like clarification. If the oem has a firm pedal feel i be willing to just go for that instead of paying the extra money. I just dont want a weak spongy clutch.

Logan also made that post in 2004.
2004's prices are not likely to be the same as 2009 prices.

Doubt the price would have gone up 3.5 times though.
