I need to know if there is a Nissan symbol printed behind the bumper. I have to verify if mine is OEM.

For anyone with access to the back of their JDM S14 Kouki bumper, I would appreciate it if you could post whatever is listed on the back (whether it be part #'s, logos, etc.)

thanks

There was a date stamp or something. I an't taking it off the car to look. I know there wasn't any Nissan or P# stamps on it. Mine came in the Nissan box.

thanks for the info. It's odd to hear that there wasn't a Nissan logo or a part # on the back. The bumper I have is just as you describe...it has a stamp # with some code, but nothing like part #.

reason is, I've been having fitment problems with it since last year in May. I've been putting it on and off trying different things but I can't figure out why it's not fitting right. My car is a 98, no accidents or any modification in the front area. 98's should fit these bumper...but I have no confirmation of anyone else with a 98 model with a jdm front.

here's more details of my problem:

I though they answered your question well. USDM has a bigger core than JDM cause of our safety standards. just take the bumper off and take out the problem flange with an angle grinder.

problem is, OptionZero has a 97 and didn't modify anything and it fit perfectly. I actually helped him install it when he received his from Japan. I've also talked to KOUKI KA-T and he didn't modify anything either.

i don't have an angle grinder, and I'd rather not modify anything permenantly if possible.

currently im just in the garage looking at how I can fix the problem. last resort is cutting the ends of the support, but i have no tools do that right now.

edit...if anyone around the east bay area (or anywhere close to Hayward) can help me cut the problem areas of the support, i'd appreciate it. let me know and i can treat you to lunch after it's all done. I dont have the tools that's why I ask for the help. thanks.

doesnt the turn signal hide it anyway?

He can't put the turn signals on because of this deformity.

I suspect it's the metal bumper support that's different from 97 to 98. When it stops raining we should pop 'em off and compare.

it's raining?

anyway....yeah, I was hoping we could do that. I could do all the work too. I can probably get a bumper off in about 5-10min now seeing how many times i've done it already.

and yeah, it might be the 98 support...everyone I know that hasn't had to modify has a 97 model, and I'm almost sure now that my bumper is authentic.

To my understanding, all the kouki's sold in the US were all manufactured in 97, the 98's that were sold were all left overs from the production line in 97. I can't remember where I found this out, but if that's the case there should be no difference in bumper supports from 97-98.
How do you know it's never been in an accident? Are you the original owner? Carfax and all those crappy sites are never right, my car has been in 2 accidents, one i know was reported as I did it myself 2 years ago. To this day my carfax still shows a perfectly clean record.
Either way good luck, and I'd just grind down the corners when you can borrow a die grinder from someone.

There is a symbol and part number on the back of the bumper where the license plate goes.

P/N: 62022-80F00

BTW..I didn't modify anything to fit the bumper on my car.

Oh yeah, forgot about that part... Yes my bumper had a nissan logo on the back of it as well, can't remeber the part #

I have a 98 and I had the same problem...I had to cut the bumper support a little and toss the adsorber since it's to thick. When I first put it on it seemed to fit fine then I bolted it all up and then I tried to put the turn signals on and they wouldn't fit so yeah I had to take it on and off a bunch of times too.

we wil try to put my bumper on his car and his bumper and on my car to see if its the cars or the bumpers that are whacked out

The metal bumper is just thicker. Get a hack saw and cut the corner off the bumper reinforcement. Either cut the whole ends or cut a chunk off the bottom.

just as the title reads, after CAREFUL looking...I actually found the logo, and I think even the part #. As mentioned above, it's around the license plate area but a lot more hidden than I thought. It is barely imprinted on to the bumper, but it has the nissan symbol, then the code 62022 80F00.

I have a feeling it is my front end bumper support that is the problem. Actually, it is definately the front end support. Gahh...I'm beginning to suck at observation. I wish I looked harder for the authenicity of my bumper. And it's disappointing to know that the car could have been in an accident...it still confuses me though that some people had to modify their supports.

this is the response I wanted to hear.

In summary, it seems like there are people with mixed fitment experiences. Some had to modify/cut the metal support, some just fit it on without any problems.

nosterdomis, what did you used to cut the bumper support? I'm going to purchase an angle grinder sooner or later...someone else recommeneded a die grinder. i have limited experiences with "hacking" off metal.
