Is there a way to check cranking compression of an engine that is out of the car given the starter is still attached? Can't find a yes or no answer. Thanks

Yes all you gotta do is get the starter to crank the motor. So just use a battery and hook the starter up

wont the motor kinda shake too much though? Also, when u do a normal compression test you are supposed to warm the engine up. If the engine is cold, my guess is the compression would be a bit lower. How much off do you think it's going to be?

#'s will be lower but the thing to look at is if the #'s are close together,
