best offer over $300US plus shipping. I'm in Vancouver, so i think that'll be about 80 to cali, but dont quote me on that.

While your looking, see if it will go on a 92 SE

as far as i know it should be a direct bolt in (for sure in the s14 and 99% sure in the s13, but anyone can correct me if im wrong). i think LSDs from a j30 or a z require mods.
loofee, its not first offer takes it. its highest offer over 300. definitely cant go any lower than that.
btw, gfisch's lsd sold for over 400 on ebay, and i regularly see em for over 400.

I have a '97 base model (w/o ABS) would that be an issue? Or will it fit right in???

well not exactly. Basically J30 95 and up will bolt into our cars. J30 pre 95 will bolt in if you use the axles from the J30 (yes they are the same length and do fit right in )
Z rear ends have the same output flanges as the pre 95 J30's (5 star)only difference is the ABS sensors are on the output flanges.
Now I am researching the the size side to side difference on the Z32 diff versus ours. if they wind up being the same then we are looking at a situation where you can bolt a Z32 rear end into our cars using J30 axles . Which will save a lot of money over getting the correct output flanges from Nissan

well, my 95 has no ABS, but has LSD stock from the factory, so that wont be a problem.

thanks for the clarification freaq. i knew youd shed some more light on this.
am i correct that the s14 LSD is a direct swap into the s14 and s13?

no... but you can do it fairly easily. IIRC, all you have to do is swap the rear diff covers, as the S13 had a 4 bolt connection to the subframe while the S14 had a 2 bolt. The same goes for a J30 or z32 into an S13.

I have a 1997 240sx SE with regular open diff. My question is that in order for the VLSD to fit in place of a stock open diff, what all do you need? I have people tell me that I need to get a new 2 half axel. Also some said I will have a leaky transmision fluid if I don't change the drive shaft. If anybody had an experience replacing a stock open diff with a VLSD from a 240sx please share the knowlegde. Thanks.

i asked driftfreaq a similar question a while back, and i believe he said swapping into an s14 doesnt require a shortened driveshaft, so its a direct swap.

If you're in Canada. . . you should have a VLSD standard, am I right? Even base SE models...
unless 97-98 is different..
Just curious..

no, the "all 240's in canada have LSD" thing is a myth. all lot of ppl wish it was true but its not.
going into another 97 should just be a direct swap.
thewholefnshow, just email or message me an offer and we'll talk.

Ahhh hell. . . I wish it was true. . be easy to find VLSD!! Just go north hehe. .
Welllll shit. . still interested =)
I'd consider Quaife, Kaaz, or Nismo. . . but the INSTALL is what scares me away... no way in hell am I gonna do that. . and no way am I going to let some hill jack loser from Indiana install my LSD. . It sux here. .
Kaaz is toooooo much maintenance. . Quaife is too much. . too professional. . I don't need that kinda power. . hehe. Nismo is nice. . but. . yeah. .
so uhh. . I want VLSD lol

yo Kouki I can get many lsd/VLSDs from ky local junkyard...the only cars they have there is Infinti and Nissan...I just picked and installed a 94 j30 VLSD in my 96...it was justa direct swap...let me know if you are interested that goes for the rest of you...
do ALL 93+ j30's have lsd?.. i'm headed over to the junkyard this weekend to try and find one... just making sure this is true so i don't pick up another open diff that would SUCK.

To my knowledge 94-96 J30s came with a VLSD...now I don't know for sure that the 96 has the same output shafts as the 94-95....Also with some minor modification you can put a Q45 VLSD in..but it wouldn't be worth it..

Just out of curiosity. . not gonna do it. . cause. . this'd be expensive... but. . What would be required to fit an S15 helical LSD into an S14? I'm assuming it's R200, but can't remember for sure. .
Also if anyone wants an open dif, I have one hehe. . it was free. . it's in a KAAZ box. . so you can like. . scam someone u don't like if ya want. . hehe

For Your Info:
I have put a 95 Infinity J30's LSD into my 95 240sx. its a direct swap and much cheaper.
i got it for a little less than 300 shipped overnight from a nearby city.
These are fairly easy to find that 240sx LSD's but make sure you get one off of ONLY A 95+ J30 and while you're getting it make sure the output flanges are 2 holes of 3 and NOT five spoke like 300zx LSD in which case you will HAVE TO change them and they WILL COST MORE.
hope this helps
email me at

don't you hate that vancouver. they also post old info that is like already been worked on and changed so it no longer is true.

hehe rob,
you do not read enough do you? I already aced out the hole 5 spoke flange deal by using Pre 95 J30 axles (5 spoke ) they slide right into the 240 hub and are the same length as 240 axles. you can do this on pre 95 J30's and 300zx NA VLSD's

well guys tell me what you think of this.....the VLSD I put in my 96 was from a 94 J30t...and it fit perfect....but it did take 4 frickin hours to install(mechanically declined helper)....I don't know what the deal is...it fit...I have heard the same elsewhere that is why I hesistated buying it...but it is a 94 with 3 two bolt patterns on each output shaft???......any input guys??

did the 95+ 240's come with abs?
I looked mine up at the website with my vin number and it said i had lsd and abs...
but it dont feel like i have abs....

civickilla, the yard that sold you your VLSD's messed up on the years. pre 95 J30vlsd's are all 5 bolt. I have first hand experience in this . not 3 pairs of 2.
anyways, congrats on your install, and in the future do not highjack someones thread. What you did to vancouver was rude. Especially when you have your own for sale thread already running.

ABS was only an option. my s14 has LSD but no ABS (came stock that way), so it is possible.
check using the model# not the vin#
