Hey people, I was just curious...'cause I'm from Jersey and I just bought a used 96 240sx. I love it; It's exactly what I wanted...but then I go to insure it and start shopping around...$4600, $4800, $4850...what the hell, this isn't a fucking luxury car! I have to admit though, I have 6 points so that's my bad...but still...$5000! This will be the end of me...

My agent told me something that doesn't make too much sense. He says that your basic insurance premium, without calculating driving history (accidents, tickets, ect) is based off of the original value of the car. This means that my 1991 Z32 that I bought 8 years old was getting it's insurance based off a $38K price tag when I only paid $12K for it. Whats stupid is if the car got totaled, they wouldn't pay my $12K let alone $38K they would only pay the blue Book on it which is something like $7K. Its a big rip off scam if you ask me.

I'm 23, I live in the piece of crap state of New Jersey, I got 2 ticket's which gave me 6 pts on my license, and for some reason the 240sx is rated the worst car to insure. All this sums up to about 4800 bucks. All the companies are charging the same thing...this is only in Jersey though. Anywhere else won't charge as much.

I pay about 50 bucks a month for insurance on my 240sx and my corolla together. But I'm with USAA and you have to be in the military to get that

I am 18 no points on my license and under my parents i pay 1250 for full coverage and if on my own policy for basic liability i would pay 1600. I think i would only pay about 2500 on my own policy for full.
Paying $850/yr for 50/100 liability only. Living in Queens, NYC, no points. Got policy from Geico with 5 year good driver discount. Highly recommended!
