Nice pics, I wish I could go.. You just gave me a taste of what I will be missing. But on the other hand, the money that I will be saving will go into a new snowboard.

after dishing out $90bucks for tickets, im excited..
I just like the look of the older jgtc cars tho since they more resembled the street car, now they far stretched out in aero advancements.

$90 for tickets? Did you purchase for more than one person? I thought it was $30 for saturday or sunday and $60 for weekend pass. I'm just wondering.

hey is the celica front wheel drive?? kinda strang imo that when it comes to major motorsports, car builders tend to make thier cars rwd, like alot of the sport compact cars in drag racing.

I'm pretty excited about JGTC. GT has been my favorite kind of racing since I was a kid, to finally see it will be awesome, doubly so now that I'm so into Japanese cars and the community. I even put together a jacket to wear there, nothing much, just a blue-grey Dickies jacket with a Nissan patch on the left chest and an American flag with a Japanese flag under it on the left arm.
So, anyway, who is everyone rooting for to come in first? Personally, I'm a longtime fan of the XaNaVi effort, so they, and their Motul sister car, are my favorites this event.
By the way, on the subject of routes for when the race becomes a more serious event in the years to come, I'd love to see JGTC on the Long Beach GP course. Not only is it an awesome course, it provides great spectator oppurtunities, a full convention center for display space, and is located near the ocean, so it's cooler, and near a multitude of nice restaurants and hotels, to make it a great spot. It was certainly a great place for multi-day gatherings back in my Anime fan days, when we held Anime Expo at the LBCC, JGTC could become a similar event, where the fanbase and interaction among them could become almost as important as the events themselves.

Yes the wheels are hot. But the Celica is weaksause  when compared to a Supra or NSX. I'd like to see what place it comes in...

I am PISSED!
I helped write a little introductory message from Gov. Schwarzenegger to the GT Live folks, and they didn't read it or print it! Man I wanted to get some props for that, too =P
First day as windy as helll...freakin' scary to be on the temporary stands with like 100mph winds!
Second day, hot as hell...12 hours of walkin around, then 8 hr drive back home to Davis...without a co-driver, I never woulda made it
but yeah, Christian...ya missed out dude, haha...next year, Davis Caravan for reals, if we're all still up there......aw fuk it, we're flying, i ain't driving down again unless we got minivan w/ 4 guys rotating
I dunno how you Socal people survive the traffic on a regular basis!

dunno about you Jon, but the fog going back home was thick as f*ck. I've never experienced fog so thick. did you enconter any probs?
as we were going downhill towards grapevine, I couldn't see anything 10ft in front of me. I kept my hazards on and went around 20-40mph. When it partially clears we're on the straight, flat part of 5, and I never even saw the grapevine area, exits, or signs.

Nah, the original letter from the GT Live staf was pretty sparse, barely described the letter. At first the people in my office thought it was drag racing...fortunately I came across it and told them it was so much more, haha...yeah, it was just thanking them for giving California auto enthusiasts the opportunity to see this JGTC racing in person for the first time, a welcome to the golden state, building relationship with our counterparts in japan, yada yada, short and simple coupla paragraphs.
Pretty much every large event and many small ones usually ask for and receive something from the Governor's office, no matter who's in charge (As long as it's not a political event, that would require much more approval).
A rep from the office was there, but I didn't get a chance to see him. He got free access to everywhere though, haha....darn him...
Turdz:
yeah, the fog was CRAZY! You could barely see 50 ft ahead in that sheet! I'm totally glad there were trucks eventually, they had hella lights so they functioned as beacons, haha...damn SUV owners going 100mph w/ zero visibility, crazy
