TALON TSI IF YOU CAN FIND ONE...AWD ESPECIALLY great cars quick as hell too. theyre like the mustnags of imports cause its easy to get hp from them for little money. just make sure you get the 2nd get the first isnt all that great. only problem with those cars is top end isnt great but in midrange they got punch. k im gonna stop babbling now

My friend has one and he is currently waiting for his new engine. I hear they have some drive train issues once you start to get higher in the hp. Something like a walk issue or something. He was talking about another issue but I cant remember.... Ill chat with him tonight and see if there is anything else.

I would say they are both good cars, and both have some good points and bad:
DSM Talon TSI:
Pros:
1.AWD or FWD are better in snowy conditions
2.Already comes Turbocharged
3.Awesome launches from the AWD
4.Parts are easy to find and plentyful
Nissan 240SX S14:
Pros:
1.RWD= better road course handling and top speed (against the AWD)
2.Better reliability than the DSM's
3.Easy to work on...lots of room in the engine bay and RWD is just easier to work on
4. Look way better IMO
DSM Talon TSI:
Cons:
1. Tend to be unreliable ( i know people with these things, and they have had some fairly poor reliabilty)
2. No top end...especially for a turbocharged car. These cars win races at the launch and thats it.
3. EVERYONE has them....takes away the origionality all of us Import guys strive for
Nissan 240SX S14:
Cons:
1.RWD is HORIBLE in snowy conditions
2.Lacks power....cost lots to start making good power
3.Hold their value better than early DSM's, so they may be more $
Those are just a few of the pros/cons of each. It all comes down to personaly preference. Test drive both cars and decide then .

i had a 91 gsx. pretty sure i spent more money on repairs than modifications. seemed like it was in the shop more than on the road. had to replace lifters, synchros, wastegate, CV joints, and some other things that i can't remember. it was fast though.

i would say 240.. i LOVED GSXs and TSi AWD before i got my 240, but could never find a 5-speed in my price range. now that i have my 240 i don't really want a DSM and don't regret not getting one. they're way too common here and theres nothing unique about them, end of story. i'd rather have a much less common 240 with an sr20 then follow the crowd. about the crankwalk issue, there is still controversy about how common it is but i'd rather not take my chance with it because it can get quite expensive and the dealer won't cover all of the repairs, especially on a modded car. that plus the not so great reliability and the "hey look theres another one" factor turned me off of it, could be a good project though. if u do decide on a DSM your safest bet to avoid crankwalk is a 1g with flip up lights (90-91,92?). if u wanna get an idea of what crankwalk is just search for "crankwalk DSM" and there are hundreds of pages on it. my .02 cents...
i love 240's but tsi is the way to go thats my opinon probably
because i had one, and everybody i know wants one

yep those cv joints got a recall my friend got a recal for his cv joints on a 96' GS-T. ive heard (so far my friend hasnt had any problems) that the awd setup has been known to break. the only problem my other friend has had with his talon tsi awd is that he got an aftermarket turbo and a stock fuel pump and injectors and ran waaaaay lean at 22psi and i think his 2nd piston i believe was not firing. but all is sloved now he has 420cc injectors and a set of pistons.
