Sory if its a stupid quesiton, but whats that thing (panel) thats under the car, right under the engine area, that protects water and other stuff from going up to the engine bay, and stuff into the tranny. :smash:

thanks alot for helping :)

I threw mine away since it was P/S fluid soaked. Is that bad that I don't have one?

Don't drive fast through water higher than 3 inches...

I shold probably find another, huh? Can't a hot block and cold water be bad too (as in block being normal temp and cold rain water from a puddle)?

There are more reasons that the under guard is there. Another is to regulate engine temperature. The engine bay uses a sort of "push-pull" method of cooling. Think about the hood and the way it is designed.

Also, when water gets on the belts, they are more prone to decay and premature wear. The situation you are speaking of is not completely bad. Just don't get into a situation where extremely cold water would engulf the engine, like say a flood. But the undergard can't prevent that anyways.

well arent there like two shrouds? like one for the cooling system *right after the radiator to force air to go in the radiator and 2 the fan(s) and then an underbody one thats just there for protection? or is it the same one still?

And then the fender vents to help with "letting it out". BTW, if you are talking about the rad shroud with the fans, then yes...you are correct. There is an aftermarket cooling panel also available to assist with ensuring airflow is diverted in the most favorable direction.

The top shrouds work fine. I have one, and ever since I put it on, my car stopped overheating on the freeway when my A/C was on. So it works. As for the undercover, I took it off and threw away, and I've never had a problem w/ it. I am looking into getting/making a car long diffuser though.

so its engine cover?? :

No, engine undercover. I just typed it right above your post. Reading shouldn't be that hard.

Ever heard of a dealership?

You're not going to find a used one in good condition, salvage yards usually drag cars around and tear them off, parts cars generally have torn or fluid covered pieces that are just as bad as yours is. Buy a new one and save the hassle of locating one in even remotely good condition.

so there is no aftermarket engineguard, and i'll have to get it from the dealer? and idea how much for one? :bowrofl:

Togue factory makes an aluminum undertray, don't know about fitment though.

OE piece is about $62, something you could have found out by calling a dealer.

Splash-gaurd or engine cover, same difference -- you get these fine items from the dealership, D00D.

I havent had one on my car for years, many many years. They hang down and scrape over everything, so I trashed it. It helps with keeping water/debri out of the engine area and also helps with aerodynamics, all of which I dont care about at this point in time. My engine is empty so it doesnt need any protecting, and I could care less about the aero benefits as I'de rather have less stuff to pull apart when working on my car.
