View Full Version : Te37 Replica's for Cheap 16x8 Low offset?

AutoRnD
12-08-2004, 07:16 PM
Ok guys i have a dilema..
Here is the details..
right now i am in the works w/ talking to a few companies to make some wheels for me..
They are 16 x 8 offset Te37 replicas with the concave face similar to the fn01rc in 17x10 +12

Now these wheels will be a 9 hole universal for both 4 and 5 lug s13's

Now... What i need to know is.. What offset do you guys want?
remember front and rear have to be same.

And the color would be gunmetallic.

The price on these would be 500 Shipped + ca tax of course.

I would need to take pre orders it would be 50% down and the rest 2 weeks before shipment arrival to the states..
I need 5-10 people.. so any suggestion on offsets would be nice as well as if another color should be chosen..

Eta would be 1 month after i put in the order.

So should i do it or should i go to hell :smash:

pics! front and rear have to be the same offset right?

+15 all around!

FRpilot
12-08-2004, 07:27 PM
i say you should.. go to hell..:smash: LoL. j/p

i dont think no one would want to buy them unless maybe if they were uber low offsets. 16x8 +0? but i can't picture how they would look. would be weird looking with the 4/5 universial pattern and concave lik fno1rc unless u mean look lik sunken te37s..

5-10 ppl? gl.

500 a set? If they are available in a +15 +20 or so, you've got a sale. I've been looking everywhere for some cheap, low offset, 4 lug track wheels, and these would fit the bill perfectly.

I'd say go for white as a second color.

RBS14
12-08-2004, 07:47 PM
I'm not buying any as of yet..... but I vote for zero offset on those. Nice and flush with stock fenders. Anything higher offset than that is weaksauce.

Shin_Kudo
12-08-2004, 07:48 PM
Will +/-0 be flush on stock 240 fenders? I would have thought it would need a pull or a roll on an S14, and would be "mexican" on a 13.

eyustfu
12-08-2004, 07:52 PM
how about a wider width? 9's or 9.5?

cali240sxdrifter
12-08-2004, 07:54 PM
I would seriously get into this, but maybe a product demo would be nice to see how its going to look like.

RBS14
12-08-2004, 07:54 PM
needs just a roll on S14's. I'm running -6 on my S14 with just a roll. S13 would just need rolled fenders and some camber. Pull if you are a puss and don't want to run much camber.

wootwoot
12-08-2004, 07:55 PM
How will they be made and do you have a speculative weight? +15 sounds good to me for the offset. Who is going to be making these as well? Material will be?....

Shin_Kudo

0s would be nice, but I think it's important that the rims fit both generations without modifications. If not, that'll cut down on sales, and therefore make this impossible.

What the hell, I'll throw my hat in the 0 offset ring. Looks like there's enough interest to get them made in that offset. Straight 4 lug would be nice too. The 5 luggers have plenty to choose from, as has been said.

One thing you might want to take into consideration is that many forms of organized motorsports (SCCA for one) do not allow "universale" hole pattern wheels. A 4 or 5 lug version of such a nicely offset wheel would have a better response from people who're involved with such programs.

In other words, why'd you choose to do a 9-hole pattern?

tastyratz
12-09-2004, 09:00 AM
im not gonna buy any but id say that you should go with 0 offset 4 lug only. if you want interest you might wanna either show a prototype wheel or an exact cad image of what youd be getting. i already purchased my rims so gl!

HaLo
12-09-2004, 09:03 AM
I'd get a 4-lug at +20 offset. I mean, 0 offset will NEVER allow me to run 245 in front, and rear would require lots of fender pulling. I am running 245s on +26 16x8 and it required fender rolling!

JimLecesse
12-09-2004, 09:05 AM
I'm definitely in, I'll leave the offset to the experts, so I have no vote there. but if this works out you have a buyer

sykikchimp

+20 is my vote too.

0 offset would like rediculous on a 240 imo. I've seen +5 9" wheels on an s13, and it looked rediculous to me.

4 lug would be the better choice. But 16x8? i'm sorry but 17's is as small as i would go. So says the man with the Typhoons. 17x8 all around with a +15 offset. Yes! Not too much fender rolling, and with a nice encaved face? Sexy. I just think 16's are small. Even with an 8" witdth, i would still just get z32 wheels for much less. But that requires a 5 lug conversion. So we are back to square one. Damn it there i go talking again. If you can get me 17x8/ +15 all around, we got a deal. otherwise i'm saying i'm broke.

ok. So far common concensus has been interesting.
Now from what i have gathered in the past day is.
#1 all the people that want 0 offset are just saying it and dont really plan on buying.
#2 20 offset seems to be the best for everyone as it will pretty much work with stock fenders.
#3 i will see if we can do the 4 lug and 5 lug different from one another.
But for each one i will have to do at least 5 orders.
#4 i will shop pictures about the groupbuy soon. Just you wait.

but this is 500 for a full set,.

0 offset will only get hardcore people that like mad camber, fender pulling and stretched tires.

20 offset will reach most people, such as auto-x guys like me, people that drive mostly on the street and some of the above.

woody
12-09-2004, 05:34 PM
How about a 10 offset. With a ten offset, you still get the nice wide stance and can still run 225 tires. I would be down for a set with a 10 offset. 0 would be more for the drifters, and not everyone is a drifter.

I guess it might also work out for the people who want to look like a drifter...

I will be in the market for some 16x8 wheels in a few months. I would definately consider these if the offset allows for fitting these tires (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hoosier&tireModel=A3S04&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=445ZR6A3S04&fromCompare1=yes) under S13 fenders. I like the largest contact patch and I would also prefer to determine my own camber settings, not have the car determine them.

holy moly,
just saw this thread,
yeah, i'm in for a set (maybe even 6 wheels) 4 lug, +20 offset,
would prefer if it was 17x8, but 16x8 is cool

also a factor in my buying isn't just that it looks good, how's the weight and quality (i skimmed thru the pages, didn't really see it, aside from the fact that it's going to be cast w/ unknown load rating, but hope it's not like those you find in pep boys i.e, heavy and poor/mediocre quality... but what could we expect for 500/set/shipped wheels)

XXX4life
12-09-2004, 11:16 PM
i'd be down for a set as long as the camber wasn't too crazy, i think 20 would be good

mbmbmb23
12-09-2004, 11:22 PM
Might as well make them 4 lug. Most folks who can afford to go 5 lugs probably are spending more than $500 on a set of rims (except me...I have some ebay Z32's for $150). But anyhow, I think there are alot of 4 luggers out there who could use a nice looking cheap rim deal.

If you want to see what 16x8 +0 looks like on an S13, dig up one of those Demon Camber rim pics from Jspec.com, I think it was a 16x8 pair....maybe 15x8 +0. Regardless 16x8 +0 will need rolled fenders and negative camber.
