So what do you guys think? KA24E = potential?

Alright so I picked up an 89 hatch for 250 bucks. The guy said it began to run hot so he quit driving. My question is would it be worth it to get this motor running if nothings terribly damaged internally? I'd most likely stay all motor with this motor if I decide to progress with it. I'm aware of the options for swaps and such but money is my problem. I dont have too much of that stuff. I havent quite figured out what exactly I'm going to be doing with this car. Most likely road racing/autox/drift events. I searched but couldnt seem to find anything dealing with ka24e's making power NA. So hopefully some of you guys can help me with this decision. Thanks yall.

That car definately has potential. Run a compression test and if good, start by replacing the plugs..wires...etc.

There are many options to making power on this engine. The manifold will be the hardest thing to get (cheap is not an option). RX7, ca18det, and DSM injectors work on this car, with some boring of the fuel rail. There is alot more, and if you search a little more, you will find what you are looking for.

yes the ka24e is suffiicient for drifting/autocross etc.

no cheap will never be in the same sentence as good horse power with the ka24e.
