OK... I am guessing this has been asked before, but the search is not working at all. I am about to get a 96 240SX SE and presently have an Acura Integra. I am very familliar with hondas but am new to nissans. Anyway, the thing I am trying to find out if how much HP can REALISTICALLY be expected with boltons such as intake, header, exhaust etc. I know with hondas you don't get much, but they put out much more HP per liter than the 240 does. It seems to me that more power could be gained on a 2.4 liter only putting out 155 HP stock than with a 1.8 putting out like 170. (For the GSR) Let me know what you have found out, and recommend some good parts! I am looking at the Apex-i N1 Dual right now, and the injen intake. WOuld those be good choices for power, and if not what else? Thanks.

Your looking at maybe 10-15hp max with those two mods. Add some cams, header,  and retuned ecu and you'll add about 25hp. Add a lightweight pulley and a lightened flywheel and maybe about 20hp. Electric fan will give you 2 or 3hp.

Those are excellent choice's. (injen & Apexi)  You may also want to get the cold air extension for the intake.  Also Hotshot & Greddy make excellent headers for the S14.  If you want to pick-up some cams either check out Jim Wolf Technologies (JWT), or check out Colt Cams (www.pdm-racing.com).  For a chip re-program, go to Jim Wolf again, definately the best out there for that.  For underdrive Pulleys, I believe only ASP and Unorthodox Racing make them.  Most people go with ASP b/c there really is no difference except the ASP is a little heavier.  It usually costs about $80-100 less too.  I've seen about 3-4 different brands of flywheel.

Of Course if you want REAL power check out FMAX, and NSPORT for Turbo Kits.  (you could put these together yourself if you had the know how)

If you want to upgrade Suspension then that is a WHOLE other can of worms.  We have a fairly Large selection of Suspension upgrades available.  And this is really where the 240sx shines, unless you go turbo.  The 240 is an amazing handling car, with potential to be a world class handling car.

OK sounds good thanks for the replies so far.  If I was to go the lowering spring / performance shock method of suspension, who makes some good combos for that? I know I loved my eibach sportline springs for my integra with the tokico illumina shocks. Are these also good on a 240?

KYB AGX struts + Eibach Pro springs seem to be a popular combo.

There is a guy (either here or on FA) who bought a set of Tein HA coilovers.  You might want to ask him how they are (i guess u can do a search for Tein).

a couple of other suspension systems for the 240:
APEX`i World Sport Dampers
Zeal B6
...and much more.

Search around this forum as well as freshalloy and look for other people's susp. set up.

Good luck, and welcome

I had Teins on my Miata and damn were they ever nice. I pulled nearly about 1.2 Gs on a skidpad test. Course I had alot more than just coilovers.

Yeah I know teins are usually really nice. They have a nice pricetag, also! Thanks for the welcome and the advice.
