Well, here's where I'm at right now. I should have her running in 2 weeks when my harnesses come back. My friends just got out of body/paint school, so we took all the dents out and she'll be going into the spraybooth next spring for some R33 skyline midnight purple.

This engine removal was all me, no extra hands that night to help. It wasn't that bad though. I pulled the tranny off afterwards and found an Exedy street clutch inside, cool stuff.

Took VC off, and painted it as well as BOV and fusebox cover. This was all with spraycans in my basement:)

I'll update things as I progress :yummy

Heh...you are correct.
I bought her completely stock, base model hatch. It was a single owner, female-driven s13. Right now it has 120k on the chassis and is very solid for a hatch.
Makoto-- Lemme take a look tonight at the clip. I'll hit you up on AIM.

Are those yellow 300zx brakes on your front clip?
Looks good.
Pull the oil pan and hammer the middle area away from the oil pickup to creat more clearance.

You're right Luke, and tnx for the compliment. They're 300zx brakes and 5lug hubs, which I don't need and will be selling. I got a greddy oilpan for $200, so we're good on that part. I might buy your PS pump if you still got it bro, but $$ is tight, and if I can seal my 2nd port on my hicas pump without it leaking, I'll do it. Glad you're done w/ all that BS, bet it feels good.

Nice paint job on the Valve cover! :hitit: What kind of spraypaint did you use??
Slidestar-- I used duplicolor primer, paint, and clear. The paint is from their anodized series...all cans baby! I will post this for you or anyone else interested in how I did it.
(Copied from my other thread)
As far as the valve cover, or anything else... it's all in the prep. I'll try and break this down real simple for you.
1. Buy your stuff-- basecoat (primer), paint, clear, sandpaper, and wax/grease remover. I got 100grit sandpaper, all the way to 1500grit sandpaper. Get a variety so you can blend out.
2. Prep surface-- there was a gouge in my valvecover, so we had to put filler in, like you would when fixing a car dent. After that, I looked for any deep scratches, and blended them out by sanding down to metal w/ 180grit, and then blending out the bare metal patch with 400, then 600grit etc. Sand down all scratches and blemishes. Get the surface completely smooth by going over all of it with 800grit or so. No need for sanding block while doing all this. I finished mine with 1500grit after making sure there were no blemishes and it was all smooth, no bumps. Going to finer sandpaper after using coarse sandpaper takes out your scratches, so remember to do that....play around with it.
3. This is already becoming a novel damnit.
4. Wipe the valvecover down with hot soapy water and let dry. Now, take the wax/grease remover, and wipe it on the VC generously, and let that dry as well. It is now ready for paint. Don't put your greasy fingers on it now.
5. Take it to your basement, garage, whatever. Spray the primer on, 5-10min drying time between coats. I did 3 coats to completely cover everything up and get a uniform base. Wait 30min drytime, and then proceed to paint.
6. Spray about 5-6 coats of paint. Allow 10min drying time between coats, and put all coats on within an hour or two. Hold the button all the way down, and make sure you're parallel and spraying even and sweeping. Obvious stuff, but easy to forget. Remember, spraycans don't spray nearly as well as sprayguns. Allow about 15-30min drying time, and then proceed to clear.
7. Lay your clear on just like I explained the color. One thing to remember here is do about 5-6 coats, and spray your last coat on real wet. I'm not saying hold the can 4" away and soak the
[email protected]#$rfu#er, but just lay it on more wet than any of the previous coats, still 8-12" away.
8. You're done, let it dry somewhere with the least amount of dust, and then go drool over it after about 12 hours. Don't do any wetsanding or ANYTHING for 5 days. Let the clearcoat and paint completely cure and harden. I doubt I will even wetsand mine, it looks good already. Good luck.

Slidestar-- The duplicolor paint and clearcoat that I used was 500degree paint, so I thinik it should be fine. We'll find out in a couple weeks though, won't we. ;)

I polished my valve cover and clear coated with duplicolor hot temp clear coat, let it dry a couple of days, installed the valve cover and like an hour later as soon as the engine reached operating temp the finish turn kind of a green-golden tone, is kind of sucks because I did all the sanding and polishing by hand.... :bash: , but guess what is staying that way....at least until I find another excuse to take off and retry it.... :tweak:

Sorry to hear that man. I'll let everyone know what happens to mine after running at operating temps. Did you use the duplicolor 500degree paint also? I'm really curious now to see what's gonna happen to mine.

Go baby go!

Almost there, waiting for my engine harness and FMIC.
A couple tips for putting the engine in *by yourself*
1. Lift the front end of the car only. Use jack stands of course, never work w/ just the jack. note-- I've found that engine removal by yourself is exactly the opposite. Lift the rear higher than the front to allow the engine to come out easier.
2. Lift the tranny with the jack if you can't get the engine mounts to their holes. This part can be a major pain.
3. When lowering, position the chains so that the engine/tranny isn't angled so much like you did when removing. It helps to have it almost flat instead of 45degree angle.
4. Patience- it seemed impossible at first, had to stop trying last night at 4AM, but woke up today and had a fresh start and got her in.
