I have a stock ka24de s14 1995 right at 250,000 miles with compression: 1:140 2:140 3:135 4:143 that I plan on turboing. I don't have a set budget but on the cheaper side, my goal is 200-230 whp with stock internals. This is my current potential build and would love feedback and thoughts before I commit and start buying the product.

Tial F38 Wastegate 38mm .4 Bar (5.80 psi) Black: I did have a question with this I plan on just running 5 pounds would 38mm cause turbo surge? Ive read with running less boost its safer to go 44mm. Thoughts?

Fuel Management
I would love to run a Megasquirt PNP ka24de but due to halted production I cant seem to find any brand new on not a super sketchy website. Anyone know a place to get one? My second option would be the APEXi AFC Neo Fuel Management System.

My future plans with the car are to build the KA24DE and run 500whp but that is way far down the line. This is what I would opt for a megasquirt now vs an ethalpy tune so I can future proof. Same with the wastegate that and I don't trust china wastegate.

Thanks for the read!

At that mileage, and that comp test result, I would look into a refresh of the engine before you begin to think about increasing the intake charge (personal opinion). Your typical ka24de comp test results are higher than that. Did you comp test it correctly?

At those power levels, you can look at a bottom mount t28 setup, which would simplify things. You can run that on the factory internal gate pressure with 370's and have a pretty fun streetable car. The chinese turbos are a hit or miss, typically a miss, and will cause you more headache down the road.

The whole setup definitely depends on what you intend to do with the car, and how you want to progress with it. Don't overbuild it too quickly.

Bottom mount t25/t28 with the 370cc injectors is all id go with.

Can be super budget friendly aswell.

Like stated above thats a decent amount of mileage and wear.

Personally, id sit down figure out a horsepower goal, my true budget for the build and time frame. See where that sits. Then get a spare motor, build it accordingly with all supporting mods and then swap it in, get it running and tuned. Enjoy the new power.

Ecu wise, for a basic setup, I would honestly just run an RS Enthalpy ecu. You will likely be able to find one used potentially tuned for your setup already or you can pay the retune fee. Don’t worry about the future, get it turbo’d now and you can always sell the ecu in the future and get whatever you want.

youre probably gonna want a z32 maf, or If u got megasquirt. a map sensor

youre motors old and worn. Id bet money your oil pressure is quite low too at that mileage. youll probably have a smokey bomb for a motor if u turbo it

ive used fairly cheap ebay turbo piping before with good results
idk how I feel about ebay turbos since my buddies car spit 3 turbines out his exhaust pipe at the track but it would certainly match the quality of the build
